Ill teacher suing after yelling at students

A teacher who damaged her throat yelling at children is suing the Queensland government for more than $400,000.

Valissa Julietta Bauer, 39, claims she had to overuse her voice in order to discipline her composite 6 and 7 class at Thabeban State School in Bundaberg, the Sunday Mail reports.

The class included 31 special needs students —: including a child with a cardiac disorder and several children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

Ms Bauer claims the damage to her larynx reduced her capacity to work effectively as a teacher. She is currently working part-time at a Bundaberg private school.
