It is considered to be very hard for an honest girl to find an eligible bachelor on the Russian land – all the suitors are believed to be alkies, churls and idlers.
Foreigners – quite the contrary, they are viewed as real gentlemen, proper match for a Russian girl. And foreign candidates have supposedly got tired of the local feminists and prefer to marry beautiful and yielding Russian girls. As, for example, the Finnish proverb says: “One has to live in Finland, his car has to be German and his wife – Russian.” Such marriages seem to look mutually advantageous.
