Myrmidon Enterprises caught red handed sending out fake press releases
A lot of people have started paying attention to the chaps suing us for $42.5 million after they allegedly had their reputation tarnished here on ZGeek. But apparently things aren’t going too bad for them. They’ve have launched a new $100 million reality TV show called Starwalker. A show that aims to send contestants into space.
But this has lead to a lot of questions. Namely, how is it going to be done? When people questioned this on the official Starwalker forum (a Facebook discussion group) they were met with rudeness, censorship and then the banning.
So these people started their own facebook group and it looks like they’ve turned up some interesting stuff. Recently they uncovered a press release issued by Myrmidon Enterprises regarding the show was fake. You can read it here and here in it’s unedited orginal form. They have since been “officially” changed on their official sites.
Official claim:
“Starwalker also features the on air talents of worldwide scientist celebrity Stephen Hawking, and on the production side the award winning talents of Dave Mousley and Red Vision UK, together with showrunner and executive producer the award winning film director, novelist and documentarian Jonathan Nolan. Red Vision has just concluded a multimillion dollar filming project with Discovery Channel, INSIDE THE MIND OF STEPHEN HAWKING, detailing and showing to the public the wonders across the known universe. The “bounce” generated from that project for the massive undertaking of Starwalker is significant indeed.”
The Truth:
We and several other people have contacted the Stephen Hawking’s association and found out that Prof Hawking has nothing to do with this show.
Also, Red Vision UK isn’t co-producing the show. They were also contacted and advised that they had only been approached to create special effects and have no producing role.
But the most damning evidence comes from a fake press release which was discovered to have been sent by Jonathan Nolan.
We contacted the Dionne Taylor of Polkadot PR who said,
“Polkadot PR is not the PR agency for Starwalker, although there have been a number of blogs and websites that have listed us as their agency, we have not done any work on the campaign to date and will not be pursuing work with the show in the future.
Polkadot PR did not issue the press release and I am in the process of trying to have it removed.”
The CEO of the website it was posted on was contacted and his reply was posted on facebook here.
Hi.
We just wanted people to know that the information on the Greenlight Memorabilia website mentioned and demonstrated in the photos section on this page was provided to the CEO of Greenlight Memorabilia via email and directly from Jonathan Nolan himself in which we simply posted in the news/events section. I have spoken with the PR agency head a while back about there involvement hence the details were removed when we learnt that they were no longer involved with Starwalker and Jonathan Nolan.
This week all reference to Starwalker and Jonathan Nolan will be removed as well from the Greenlight Memorabilia website in light of the information circulating on the internet as to whether the show is a hoax or not. Just wanted to clarify that we actually have no involvement with the show, it was just a request to put in the news events section that our website has available for interested parties.
Thank you
