News.com.au to start charging for news
News Ltd will begin charging for online content in October, starting with a subscription model for The Australian.
The “freemium” model will offer a mix of free and subscription-only content, starting from $2.95 a week for a digital-only subscription through to $7.95 a week for six days of the print version plus a full digital subscription.
Existing six-day print subscribers, who pay $6.95 per week, will receive a complimentary digital subscription.
