Is that the 2000 Hayabusa Raz? You should get yourself a taste of the '03 model. Improved on it out of sight.

Never been a big fan of the bike itself, but it deserves recognition with its "first bike to break 300kph" title.

Edit: Your lawns need a mow :p

Mattryx:
Its the 2001 model..... unrestricted I might add and can do the 300km pretty easy :)

That's still only 186 mph. Isn't there anything that will do 200mph? :)

Well first you need someone crazy enough such as me to hit that speed, but I am sure with a turbo on the busa it can make it.

Maybe even now, but I am not sure coz I have not tested it like that

From what I read those 'busas can hit 320kph when going full pelt, so yes boston, there is something that can do 200mph. :p

(My memory sucks, so don't go look it up and prove me wrong :) )

Matt, didn't know you were a bike rider too. I'm planning onother trip to Melbourne this summer, shall have to get you to show me some of the other roads (Doing GOR of course, haven't taken my current bike on it yet). I wouldn't mind seeing the others Melbourne has to offer too. :)

I've been riding moteys since I was six. Raced enduro's for a while, and managed to get a wild card for a few victoria MotoX events, never got to try my hand at SuperX tho. Shame. Ridden probably every two stroke worth mentioning, and most of the 4's as well. :p

I had an 2000 R6 up until I graduated in August 2002. But had to sell it to settle some financial debts I had with the old girl.

I am bikless atm, I was kidding about the '03 R1, but I do have a die cast model of one. :p

Hopefully in the next couple of months my aunty will sell the farm, and I'll get my share of the dividend, and instead of a glossy web site pic, I'll actually have an image of an R1 in the driveway here. If I'm biked up when you are planning to come down, prepare for an all out assault on the GOR and The Black Spur baby.

Hiya, heres my baby, had it for the last four years or so, and its carted me up and down along the east coast of australia a couple of times. Don't see many of em around (CB1000) these days.

I'll be heading down to Phillip Island for a bit o Grand Prix action - so if anyone is heading down, let me know. :p

This was taken on the same ride where thingy's pics were taken. I almost dropped the little darling that day, and I'm damn happy I didn't! It would have been nasty.

Well, before you look at these pics, make sure you put on your anti jealousy sunnies....

an '88 model Honda VT250F that's been abused (and thrown bodily down the road by the looks of things) by every previous owner. I was lucky(!) enough to pick this up from a mate who was going OS for bugger all.

But in far happier news, finalised my loan today, going down tomorrow should have a Kawasaki VN250 Eliminator of my own Monday!!! W00t!!!

Planeray, don't be silly. Keep the VT250, it's a good reliable bike, and great to learn on. If you buy a new bike, when you drop it (and I mean WHEN, not IF) you WILL cry.

Plus, if you're going to be getting a bigger sportsbike, it's best to stick with something that has sportsbike-style riding position. Cruisers are slightly different, can give you bad habbits for when you move to a sports bike.

If you're 100% certain you're going to upgrade to a bigger cruiser, then that's fine.

But I agree with rick, why bother? Save your money for a bigger bike for when you're allowed to ride it. It's only 1.25 years you have to ride a smaller one for - it's easy to put up with an older thing like your current one for that time period. Plus, less risks while you're still learning (hell, I've had by CBR600 for almost 2 years now, and I'm STILL learning).

That's just it, the mongrel really doesn't like starting - especially of a morning! I know what you're saying about dropping it - I've already had me a slide down the road with the VT. But hey, all part of the pleasure of motorcycling. Not too sure how long i'll plan on keeping the kwaka anyways - will probably end up with a trumpy at some point in life, but can't while I'm on my Ps

That looks like the showroom floor of Sydney City Lane Cove, would I be right?

Should join us on the ZGeek Excursion of Vroom Mk 2.0.

Nah, cruiser man for sure...all sensible stuff me boyos, but what can I say - I'm in lust! Plus, if I ever listened to anyones' advice, I'd be driving a Volvo, not a bike

Ride definately sounds like a plan stan - just have to see what shifts I'm on next week - pretty sure I've got it off and have a big piss up to go to in Coogee that night anyways

Dude, if you are in sydney, you could cruise over to my place one sunday and we could clean the carbies out, and flush the tank and just give it a general service (new plugs and oil/filter). It should strat better after that. If you want the carbies balanced, you'll have to get a pro tho :)

The other reason for not buying new is that the second you ride it out of the showroom, it is guarenteed to knock at least 30% off the value, so already your resale is shithouse. Basicly, you'll NEVER get value, unless you plan on riding it for at least 5 years (and nobody does that on a 250). However, if you're serious about buying new, think about getting one of the new BMW 600's. It is legal for you to ride under the LAM scheme anything up to a 660cc, provided it is under a power to weight ratio of 150kw per tonne. Something like the BMW F650CS would be a perfect bike to own for quite some time.

Thanks for the offer man :) , would have really appreciated it a while ago, but got a proper service on it same time as rego. The guys did a really good job, but the poor thing's done 86000ks and the cam chains are almost shot. The front calipers were gripping, so that got fixed, but it's sorta a temp fix. It really has gotten to the stage where the tires and rego are worth more than the bike :D

Also found in the last week or so that half my problems in life was that I'm using too much choke of a morning, (too used to my old suzi sierra)so it is a little better, I just want something I can trust

I seriously considered the Beemer, but 2 things turned me off - the price was just a little too hard for me to justify when I also run a car and I didn't want a 'thumper'. More from a stylistic pov than anything wrong with it. But the CS is a seriously sexy bit of kit - they had to wipe my drool marks off at the bike show!

Never worry too much bout resale value with the cars etc I've bought - as you say, you never get back what you pay, <shrugs>, I get value out of having something I love instead

thingy

Sounds like there's no changing your mind, so one last question. Why the VN250 and not a Virago is is 1000 times sexier???

Seriously reconsider the beemer man, it's a much better bike. Although they don't go in for speed like the japanese, there is NOTHING like german engineering. Mind you, you can still get some peg-scraping action on most beemers......

Thumper? Isn't the 650CS a 4 cylinder? Even so, it'll be a much smoother ride than the kwaka.

Also, consider that you will probably own the beemer for a lot longer than you would a kwaka 250! AND it'll be alot more reliable.

Different stroke for different strokes I guess - I've been thinking bout this for quite a bit...my bed is now entirely resting on bike mags and spec sheets :p Seriously though, the main things that have decided me are pure styling and nothing to do with practicalities.

I don't like the handlebars on the virago, and a lot of other cruiser style bikes - prefer a flat bar sorta thing over the girly bike style. Wanted a tank mounted speedo (I know it's out of sight line and less pratical, but again, something I like). Also wanted something that looked a little different, which I think I've got here

Only other serious contender was the Honda VT250 - fairly similar, but not quite as well finished off. Little things like the steering lock has a cover on this, the fuel tap isn't just a metal spigot, etc. Plus the Honda's now been discontinued.

Thanks for all the advice though guys, even at this late stage it's really helpful - makes sure I've got it clear in my mind why I should go this way. Gonna slope off to bed (bloody early starts) and I'll let yas know bout coming along for a ride too :D

2003 gsxr750 with yoshi rs3 can. 150km off being run in, purchased april from Mat Mladin imports and brought to Tassie thanks to a nice shipping company over easter. I had to put the top half the fairing and some other stuff on. It hadn't even been out of the shipping crate let alone ridden.
