I want to get my hands on an inline 4 engine... just the block, manifolds and heads of course. Basically, (un geeky as this sounds) i want to rebuild an engine. So. Does anyone know a wrecker or some place where I can get my hands on one cheap around Melbourne?

if you don't really mind what make of engine it is you should be able to find an assortment at any decent sized wrecker.

If you tell them you're going to rebuild it they'll probably find you one that's in questionable condition for a very cheap price.

Make sure you get something old, simple, and carby - cos you'll have no fun at all trying to get an EFI setup working without it being in the car. It'll cost more too.

I'd suggest one of the old Toyota or Datsun engines, unless you want something with overhead cam(s), in which case you'd have to go a bit newer, but they still should be cheap if you grab something like an 80's Corolla engine.

I was thinking about it all and came to the conclusion that rebuilding an engine and not knowing whether it would work would just plain suck. So I am now thinking i will buy a shitheap - old 180b or something - and re-do that. Heh... 180b. ultimate sleeper.
