Hello carheadz,

I don't know enough about wheels and tyres to make an informed choice here.

Car - My Girlfriends 1986 Holden Barina (Suzuki Swift clone)

The wheels on this thing are tiny, and almost bald, so I want to beef the thing up a bit by sticking wider rims/tyres on the thing.

I'm all confused about offsets/profiles and centrebores?

It's 4 stud, I know that much, but 100mm or 114mm? I don't know...

I was hoping just to grab some steel rims from a corolla or excel or something (there are a set of excel std wheels and tyres for sale on ebay and a set of New Corolla wheels on the tradingpost both for 200 bux! cheap!) could I literally just wack them on and hey preso, more width?

Help please.

Also, just for fun, we are going to spray it in army green, rip out the back seats and replace them with rubber, oh yeah, getting the Cv joints done so they don't click no more, it will be a wee ripper!

Thanks all.

I think Suzukis are 4 x 114.3mm, like many Nissans.

If you're interested - I happen to have a set of 15" Speedy rims at the moment that are for sale for $200.
They need new tyres though.

They're multi fit, 4x100 and 4x114.3mm, so they'd definitely fit :)

Dunno, but it's gonna need to be able to be hosed out :D

Olive drab is the colour your after. And I need to replace the tyres on the General's car, which is the same as this one.

They look great, what tyres would they take (how much?) if your not busy I guess we could hook up and try 'em out, the price is right! cool! they will look great if they fit (still concerned about offset) awesome!

the tyres on the wheels at the moment are 195 50 R15s.

The rims are 6.5" wide I think, and I'm pretty sure the offset is 38mm.

I'll check tonight.

yes, oil and salt can get very messy! (your also a filthy swine!)

Drab olive, yup, thats the colour, we are going to do some cheap tinting on the rear windows too with olive paint, big wheels and tints it will be a funky little car I reckon, the motor and g/box was done 50,000K's ago so it should go forever, next year she is going to upgrade to a little van, probably a citroen berlingo or combo as they are a little more 'car like'....

or maybe she should chuck a Nodbugger and just get a big F-off 4X4..... or not...

Just be careful of the width of the tyres. Too wide and you'll be aquaplaning. Better to get lower profiles rather than thicker tyres that your not going to need for the power.

Most specific mag wheel places have a good ranges. Go there first. Don't carry any money or cards to you're not going to buy on the spot. Take a camera - take shots. Photoshop.

When you're happy with the look, then do it.

Just remember the replacement cost of the tyres!

I'd actually like to put some new rims on a old japanese car too, a 92' toyota corolla. When I saw those I was like hey pretty nice, but I wasn't sure if they'd fit either. Does anyone know of a good place to learn about what works on which cars?
