Apart from the slits in the sides it doesn't look that much different from the current one, Ahh the wonders of retooling.

the rear is essentially the same
but looks like the front has been remodelled a bit
notably the bonnet and lights
i suppose the real changes are underneath with the alloytec v6 range and 5 speed auto

A 3.8 litre & 4.2 version of that engine were amoung options available from General Motors but Holden chose the 3.6 litre version & even then they had to "detune" it (& retune the V8s)because initially it was more powerful than the baseline V8s & Holden marketing(in their backwardsness) weren't comfortable with a mid size 6 being more powerful or even as powerful as a large V8.

Yuck.
Looks like they decided to converge on the Vectra design becasue it's the one they designed in Australia.

the air vent on the side is a rip off an Aston Martin , aka new bmw m3
hope its functional rather than cosmetic

I thought the same but then modern Aston Martins are just rip offs of old(proper classic) Astons.

Then you wont like what ive dont to my MGB then
ive decided to install vents ( aka Aston Martin style ) on the guards of my B
Although it is functional as ive allowed for some piping to get into the engine bay and allow the heat from the v8 to escape through the sides

I have no problem with that, It's the total package that I dislike about new Astons, They're now just clunky Americanised(Ford ownership) quasi muscle cars With a Brit badge & some bastardised styling cues to vaguely link it to the Dave Brown series.

Life is good when you do it fast, sideways, and in the dirt :)

Leyland p76 could, it was also more likely to negotiate a corner than any other locally made car at the time, All that & despite being built under a British badge it had more Australian content than a Holden has ever had.

To tell you the truth, the new look doesn't excite me. Boot's too small, looks too plastic... I mean it really just doesn't compare to a nice VN SS with a blower.

Er.. what are you talking about. My old VX SS could be easily handled with 1 hand at 250km/h.

You're an idiot.

If you want proof, I can post it.

I don't think The Commodores have done anything decent since they released "Three Times A Lady" in 1978...

Dunno about 250km but I reckon you could get that one to atleast 120km/h with only one hand.

Anyone know anything about the new VE? Also, That_Bloke - how'd you hear that the new V6 is better than the old ECOTEC V8s?

its a stinking commodore. no i dont like ford either, but this is pretty much exactly the same as the older model. maybe theyve added another gear to the autobox but who cares anyway, after 140,000 kms its gonna rip the shreds out of youre torque converter, and some wanker is gonna start telling you that tiptronic/SAW auto is actually a manual.

i think EVERYONE should drive a daewoo matiz for a week, and realise that you dont need a massive lump of ozone killer under your hood. 3 cylinders works, sure its not fun, and you wont pick up with it, but you wont be tempted to drive at 250 km/h on a public road with it, FUCKING IDIOT. comodore drivers deserve the plague. i do like the vent if its functional though

Autospeed(Not quite reliable I know) plus I did some research into European GM cars that already run these engines.
