View Full Version : Recommend me a VBScript Book

Why hello there.

I'm using VBScript increasingly to do various bits and bobs at work. Mainly LDAP stuff like creating/modifying user accounts, text manipulation (find/replace) and moving files around, etc.

Most of the time I can find examples on the net that I can tailor to my needs, but I'd like to better understand vbscript such that I can write these things from scratch.

What I'm after, therefore, is a good "teach yourself vbscript" book thats aimed at Windows/AD admins rather than web stuff or anything else. I'm definitely a beginner, but I'm not an idiot, so I want a decent learning curve.

So, if anybody has read such a book, please let me know how you found it, recommendations to avoid are just as welcome as recommendations to purchase!

Cheers

Ok assmasters, fuck you guys! I ordered an O'Reilly book on Monad/Powershell instead, its the future! Unfortunately its based on the Beta and Powershell is in RTM now but I dont expect much will have changed, at least not from the perspective of a beginner.

ps. you guys sucks at the books (truth).

Excellent video Satori, thanks. I worked through a couple of MS white papers yesterday and realised its pretty powerful (the -wmiobject -computername stuff is ace) but the video kind of underlined it. I'll be focussing on this stuff a lot I think!
