I am definitely not getting one of these (and i (still) love my 360) so thats weird.
ps4 seems much better, i hope that doesnt need an always on internet connection though.

thats fucked. my fucking neighbour keeps hacking my wireless and capping it (with back track 5 i assume) its making me want to go over there and punch their fucking face in, or i could just wait till next month to hack back.. either way. needing to be connected to the net 100% of the time is bullshit and will alienate a huge chunk of xbox users

Regarding 1. Although for some people the ‘always on internet’ isn’t an issue, for some it is; however that isn’t really the point – the real problem is that while my internet might be fine, the fucking servers won’t be – at title launch for sure (has there ever been a major launch of a title with always on internet without problems, compared to a regular offline title?), and then whenever microsoft or the vendor decide to pull support for the title (often just a couple of years afterwards).

The rest of these points… well, I don’t care, I play PCs The always switched on and listening stuff is fairly spooky though.

However, regarding the new xbox – the biggest issue with it that I can see is that it is really trying to be a TV tuner + TV internet streaming + games machine, but the first two are unlikely ever to work properly in Australia anyway…

Oh no, things are done differently with the new XBOX… OMGzors I wanted everything to be the same as the old one but just with better graphics!

1, If your internet isn’t always on you are not allowed to participate in society any more.
2, You will not have to buy your library again, you will still have your old XBOX. Just buy new games on the new XBOX.
3, It’s only listening for key words and gestures, the same way your TV is waiting for the infra-red light signal from your remote. When it recognises them it will turn on and go to whatever the recognised gesture or word has selected.
4, Every game for a very long time has required a certain amount of data to be installed to the hard drive before playing. This is a good thing, less long load times.
5, They have to profit from the console somehow. More than likely this console will be a lot like the previous one and even other consoles not made by MS in that it costs more to make than they can sell it for.

Ding ding, the future has arrived, get on board.

I saw that and wondered what the system was that they rendered it on. Would assume it would have to have been a high end Computer with the latest graphics card.
Would be interesting to see how downgraded it will be on the consoles.
