    Here's a short 3 minute segment of a documentary about ants. Their teamwork and combined intelligence solving problems is incredible to say the least.

      The red crabs on Christmas island are under threat because of this. The ants ( soldier ants i think) eat the crabs in their burrows before they can migrate.

      They are Fire Ants on xmas island. An introduced species, that will be near impossible to get rid of. They spit venom, and can blind the red crabs.
      They also form super colonies with many thousands of queens, and their nests can stretch for hundreds of square metres underground.

      someone in that colony took it far too heavily to heart when they got told to build a bridge and get over it.

      but on a serious note- those particular buggers dont live in Aus

      Not venom as such, Formic acid but it fucks shit up none the less.
