Zgeek Wap????

Hey guys. I currently making WAP sites for fun. Anyone interested in me making a WAP site for ZGEEK?
I need some ideas of maybe what you guys want out of it.
That is if your interested.

I have made a real crappy WAP site for my mobile (just for downloading games), if you have a nokia 3650 or 7650 all the games should work for you. Go to:

I am interested in helping with this project.

the problem that I can see is that a WAP site would have to be fed from the same DB that the HTML site is. So then perhaps we would need access. Also some XML so that the DB data can be translated into something that the WAP browser can understand....bcause not all phones can do HTML. Most do WML.

this would not be an easy task...but I would like to get involved. Shall we?

ZGeek was going to have a WAP site once. I made a deal to build a company their web site and in exchange they'd build me a wap site for zgeek.

But the ass-bandit CEO didn't think I was important enough. Turns out the guy was a (still is) and complete pr0ng.

I will setup a test model on my own server space.

Just to make sure, zgeek is on PHP4, using a MySQL database, yes? Over apache and linux? Email me the details if you dont wanna publicly shout them.

I dont think it would be as hard to make a nice newsk00l WAP page than the olden dayz WML pages. these new phones can do XHTML and HTML. But im not sure if phones can handle the .PHP extention. Hmm.

Im getting moist just thinking about the issues involved! Oh! OH!!!!!

They are java games for the newer fones. If you are running on WAP 1.x then no sorry :(

But if the zgeek WAP goes ahead, it will go thru XML so all can enjoy the Z while on the bus....

Yes, it would be fun to do. I have real player incorporated into my phone. It is so cool cause now I have all these porn movies on the phone. Fuck I love technology.

I was thinking of starting the WAP with something small, and then trying more and more complicated things on it. Like live chat and stuff. Optus have a pretty good one.

Uni has sucked up my time like a vaccum though, but I will start to puzzle it out. How about we just start with a news area first off and them go from there?

I will throw it up on my site, but first I have to talk to Jarrod cause I sent my last payment for hosting and have just got an overdue notice. Fucking post offices!

Oooh... Also I am mucking about with the J2ME environment, I want to make some cool mobile games. That is where the money is! I have a shit load of games that I have gotten from Kazaa, all for nokia 7650 and 3650 though.

The 3650 is the coolest phone, it like a pocket PC with all the awesome features it has.

Pirate - shame the ass bandit CEO was a prong. He could have helped in sooo many ways. Maybe this bad ass bandit did have a WAP site built for Zgeek but copped so much stuff from all the little zgeekers that he felt it was no use dealing with little boys.

Okay, guys.... could we not bring in all the issues from the past into this thread? I want to concentrate on whats here and now and not old grudges?

i just finished building a wap site for work.

most fucking annoying project i've ever done.

its a cool idea - but you're gonna get serious issues if you want the site to work on a mobile thats older than about 6months.


fuck wap, you wanna get serioulsly geeky - build a zgeek java applet that uses gprs to connect to the server.

Now that would be cool to write. Im currently learning java through uni so maybe I will do that in a few months when my knowledge of java has become a bit better.
