So there i am at lunch time sitting at the set of lights at kliens rd northmead waiting to cross james ruse/briens rd/cumberland highway (whatever its called) now im sitting in the right lane, im not indicating right. Im going straight through, with the aim of parking on the left after the intersection..
So the lights turn green i take off halfway through the intersection i indicate left and start to adjust course.
Meanwhile some fucking stupid moron in a 4wd has used the left turn only lane to sneak up on my left side.
Needless to say im not giving way for a car that shouldnt even be there. so i pull in front and take the spot (theres only one near the shops the other free spot was a 10metres past the shops.
Anyway this stupid moron pulls along side me blocking the whole intersection and starts giving me an earfull about not looking in the left lane when im going through the intersection.
FUCKWIT! theres no fucking left lane going through the intersection your using a left turn only lane to cause an accident.
And then to abuse me for him being in the wrong.. fuckwit..

i think the key word here is 4WD.
I will leave it at that
Give them the finger and ignore them.

I can't count the number of times I've been held up in one-way streets with a "left turn only" sign at the end by people turning right. Fucking pisses me off, especially when they insist on waiting so long it would have been faster for them to turn left, take the first right (legally), do a U-Turn then back onto the street in the direction they wanted.
But that situation you mentioned is one thing that scares the fuck out of me, especially being a motorbike rider.

I'll second that, everyone is trying to kill you all the time...
What me paranoid?

Everyone is trying to kill us motorcyclists.
Off topic, but I'd love to be a motorcyclist. There's always two things that hold me back though.
1) Not practical. No extra seats and no cargo space.
2) FUCKING DANGEROUS! I know most of the time it's the cars fault but I'd rather live than look cool.

I disagree. One seat, you can take most stuff you need around on them (Just ask Agg from OCAU who uses his bike to transport his computer to/from LANs). As for most accidents being the cars fault, most actually don't involve a second vehicle. Most involving a second vehicle on the other hand, most definitely the car. There's also an un-nervingly large proportion of unlicensed unregistered rider at fault accidents. And people wonder why bikers have a bad rep that we feel is undeserving?

Hrm, sometimes i feel that motorcyclists take their lives into their own hands. For instance, I was driving to work the other day, in a road that merged into one lane. Now, as I'm sure you all know, in a merge with NO DOTTED LINES, the car who is ahead of the other gains precedence, which usually results in a 'one by one' merge (i.e. one lane goes through, and then the other). So, I waited for the guy next to me to merge, and then i went behind him... until this fuckstain on the bedspread of humanity (yes, he was in a motorcycle) thought he'd try to push in... he was speeding, and was in my blind spot, thus I could not see him. He then had the nerve to pull his helmet mask up and start yelling (mufled) abuse. I yelled back, 'I have right of way, learn the traffic act you penis head.' The gimp then started to SWERVE TOWARDS ME and REV HIS ENGINE, somehow thinking that I would feel intimidated (remember, he was on a motorcycle, I was in a car). I think he then said something about beating the shit out of me... something you normally don't say to someone who stands at 6'2"... but I had turned up Tool by that stage and blew him a kiss :D
Edit: Possibly one of the aforementioned unlicensed riders?

The key to your story being "and was in my blind spot". Now, it's quite possible and from how you describe it I believe he WAS in the wrong being two lanes merging and him behind you. However, I have to enforce, a blind spot is only a blind spot until you look. DO A HEADCHECK PEOPLE! Turning your head and checking your blindspot is not _that_ hard.
I once was on my bike behind a lady in blue Ford Laser. I sat behind her for a while. I saw her checking her mirrors but never behind herself. I then pulled into the right hand lane and stayed where she could see me in her mirrors for about 20 seconds. I then accelerated to overtake her, saw her check the rearview mirror, and start changing lanes on top of me. I beeped my horn, accelerated to get ahead of her so she didn't run me over and yelled abuse. It _WAS_ her fault if we were to have an accident. Not ONCE did she check her blindspot, she started merging with having checked her right mirror 30 or so seconds before merging. A simple headcheck just as you're about to change (as you're supposed to do according to all instruction I've seen) would have let her spot me.
She had no idea a motorcyclist was around, probably assumed I had sped up from behind the nearby traffic like a hoon and come out of nowhere, was completely in the wrong, and drove off thinking "typical fucking motorcyclist" even though I had a feeling so I went as cautiously as I could and kept my eyes on where her head AND her eyes were pointing the entire time.
See my point? From your point of view you were in the right. From her point of view she was in the right. She didn't see what I saw because she did not adequately check her mirrors or blindspot. Hell, I could have been in a truck and she still would have missed seeing me.
Before ANY lane changes, check your mirrors and blind spots!!!
There's no excuse for going off at someone when you're breaking the law. I lane split a lot, and usually for over a hundred metres at a time. You have to be on the look out coz you are doing the wrong thing.
That said, you can rest asured if he was going off like that you prolly scared the shit out of him...

I did the mirror-mirror-blindspot check... he darted from behind a vehicle after i made the check whilst i was making the manouvre, my guess was that he was tailing my car just behind it and to the right, and because the car has a hatch back, there is a spot that neither a head check nor a mirror check can see.
I think that motorcyclists should be held equally accountable for driving to prevent the unexpected as those driving >2 wheeled vehicles, particularly given that he was speeding and weaving.
If a car was being driven as such and had an accident, they would be found culpable for damage caused... I fail to see how a motorcyclist doing so could possibly be seen as anything but.
Edit: Moreover, he did not merge correctly. As I said above, I checked, and there was a car next to me being followed by a motorbike. The car slowed, I began to make my move, but evidently the bike moved past the car when the car slowed down.

From what you said originally, I do believe you were in the right (it was a merging spot, he should have manouvered into a safe spot to merge before doing anything else - his only reason for acting abusive could have been if he was ahead so had right of way, which he didn't so the onus was on him). I was just using this thread as an excuse to remind people of my biggest gripe with car drivers. :)

Yeah, you still have to check, I mean, you still have to look out though, because things happen and you don't want to hit the guy, whoever was in the wrong. I also get the shits with car drivers who think that an indicator is an automatic right to change lanes, no matter who the hell is in the way. I also wish that some motorcyclists would realise that while they can manouvre in and out of traffic a lot easier than a car, sometimes they can give drivers a hell of a fright when they come from seemingly nowhere.

Drakin I know exactly where you are talking about and that just pisses me right off that people don't know what an arrow means... that is in fact if they actually bothered to look at and pay attention to the arrow.
Fuckers!
I feel your pain buddy.

OMG DRAKIN!!
Something fucking similar happened to me at that EXACT intersection.
I wanted to go straight in the right lane so I was waiting for the cars to turn right, because left lane is for turning left only. As soon as they had all turned off I was sorta pissed off that I had to wait so I just stepped on it, while I was doing this the FUCKarse 4WD that was behind me thought it'd be a great idea to turn onto the left lane to overtake me and everyone else just before I took off...so after I took off he was basically next to me and tries to speed up even more to cut in front of me before reaching the parked cars. So he gains a little more speed during my gear change and then tries to cut me off.
About 5 seconds of beeping the shit outta the cunt, and him having to slam on his brakes to stop for the parked cars, he's stuck behind the car while there's a steady stream of cars passing him, and he's stuck there.
Stupid dickhead. I hope he gets hit by a Mack Truck.

Do we have road planners in australia?
Im fucking sick of inadequate markings, ambiguous merges and just plain stupidity from the RTA and other private companies involved in roads.
I mean has anyone been through the m2 tolls heading east.. ??
WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT!!?!? its like 9 lanes with no markings flowing into 2 in about 100 metres round a fucking corner!!! Where is the fucking planning in that?

Just like the usual head down the right lane that goes into right turn only and try and merge across the intersection cause you will reach your destination 2 minutes faster ...
So many dickheads on the road, need to think a little more about what is going on around them and the fact that there is more than one car on the road and they cant predict another drivers actions.
As for the bike tangent, one day i saw a bike speed up, over take on the left (illegal) ..BUT the car that had been slowing down (the one the bike was behind) was slowing and indicated it was pulling into the left lane to park and nearly took the bike rider out!
Im not quite sure what planet that rider was from, but if he pulled stunts like that all the time id be surprised if he is still alive.
