whats the deal with the front page news these days.
if i wanted to read a fucking newspaper i would go to a news related site.
go and get some original fucking news and stop posting articles lifted straight from news related sites.
also - the people who accept/reject news should have common guidlelines. it seems that news that is worthy for one moderator is rejected by others!

50% of the articles found on news related site is utter shite. Here on Zgeek, the shite gets filtered and only the interesting articles get published. Not only that, but name me a mainstream news publication which allows its viewers to add uncensored comments to every article.
This is why me & so many others log on to zgeek on a daily basis. If you want articles about ONLY the things YOU are interested, then id suggest you start your OWN site!
Also, as with the image below, I disagree that you will find many of the things published here in any of your so called news related sites. http://www.zgeek.com/albums/uploads/kissmybush.jpg

no - i'd like news that a GEEK community would be interested in, not mindless sheep, or cynical sadists.
btw - nice image mate.

surely even 'original fucking news' would be from a 'news related site' because it's news...
I like the mixture of news on the front page, it contains current affairs stuff, national and international news, and funny/weird shit that makes me laugh.
I don't see your point dude.
Also, I think that the mods who accept or reject news are pretty even handed when it comes down to it.
Sometimes even the owner of the site gets news rejected ;) I don't think you can get more fair than that!

If they werent interested in say political news, then why would it be that an article about pauline hanson being jailed has generated some 35 comments in less than 12 hours? oh but the geek community isnt interested in that are they? pffft.

my main point is really about the accepting/rejecting of news.
there is a lack of common ground between the moderators, but i couldn't be bothered getting into personal shit.
my other point is that 3/4 of the posts are basically articles lifted straight from news sites.
if you like the story, check it out, do a bit of investigating and post a bit more than what someone else has written, thought on the subject.
If you want geekdom go to slashdot or whirlpool.
This is zgeek. Anarchy roolz!

I must admit it shits me when there is four news.com.au posts in a row. Specially when none of them make me want to delve further.
i can understand that its news etc (see previous comments) but perhaps there should be a common understanding that ya try and mix them up a bit..
Its just i like to read something here and then pop over to where it came from and have a snoopy around. If theres 4 posts from the one site in a row, chances are theres not much to look at if i go there.
Perhaps if you have 4 posts from the one site you should condense, headline and link in the one post.
I have a wheelie mouse so i dont mind that much, apart when i get busted for making "wheeee" sounds as i scroll down four pages of news.com.au posts...

I don't have a lot of time to surf around for news, so I like to make one stop at zgeek to get a geek-filtered view of the latest news, regardless of where it came from. It's not like zgeek is mirroring news.com.au or anything.
As for the moderators, different people moderate differently. Unless we clone Pirate (scary thought :p ), it's just the way it is. It happens on every site with more than one moderator.

Here's some original news then: I hit my hand with the hammer at work today. There you go. How the fuck are we supposed to post original news? Nothing happens in my life (where's the violin playing smiley?). I work, I sit here all night, I'm off for a bath.
WTF? Original news. Like we should go out and report on stories ourselves or something? Yeah, ok I'll just fly over to Iraq and get an exclusive with Saddam (it's ok, we email each other regularly).
All we do is post a link that we think someone else might be interested in reading. That's why I used to visit Zgeek in the first place, see what news was being posted, just like I do with other news sites. See something I find interesting I post it here. What's the problem? Browse on over to the next article.
