Well, I just spent the last two days trying to prove to a bunch of guys that I am capable of working with them. Even though I actually know MORE than them, and was especially employed because of this.
I've been working on a Tooheys commercial, and most film/tv lighting guys have a bit of an attitude about "rock" lighting guys.
I was hired in because they had decided to have 4 moving lights in the spot, which required a computerised lighting desk to run them. For reasons unknown, they had the impression that that was all I knew, and had no idea about film lighting. GRRRRRRR
And it's really hard to convince them otherwise. I had one guy thank me profusely because I carried two stands out to the truck! It's not like it's a big thing FFS, it had to be done, so I did it!
I mean, fuck, I've been in lighting for 10 years. I've been involved in feature films and tv shows/commercials for 3 years, and in that time I worked for a company that specialised in studio and location equipment. I know the fucking gear probably better than they do, as I've had to fix most of it.
