I decided today that I'd read a book my mum got me a while ago about parasites, by a science author I like. I was reading it, and it was going on about the usual stuff "humans are infestedd blah blah blah" and I got bored. So I decided to look at the picture plates in the middle of the book. Big mistake. There was a picture of a crustacean that eats the tongues of fish and lives in the vacated space, acting as the fish's new tounge. Also, there was a picture of a botfly larva that had found its way into someone's brain, which it had proceeded to burrow through. Needless to say, I won't be sleeping soundly tonight. That sort of thing tends to disturb me somewhat. I'm now also living in fear that my scrotum will swell up to wheelbarrow size, that flukes will take up residence in my veins, that worms will burrow out of my eyeballs and fish will swim up my urethra. Ah, I love nature, don't you?

the parasite museum of tokyo, apparently the only one of its kind you can see these bad boys preserved, amazing creatures but i dont think id want one as a pet. apparently the eating of tapeworm became popular for young chicks trying to maintain the perfect figure, go figure.

I do indeed have a scanner, and I've scanned some of the pictures in, to annoy my friends online.
