Anybody else juggle?
What sort of tricks can you guys do?
Bostonmess is that another name for mills mess? Can you do it?
Note to self, flaming juggling balls get hot, no matter how much kevlar is around the stupid wire frame.

I tried to learn, and I failed. It's a pretty easy concept though.
My sisters boyfrieds sisters boyfriend is a super juggler. He becaome a professional juggler to help his way through uni.
He juggles 6 balls at a time.
I once saw a comic (he was supporting Col Elliot) juggle 5 Bowls. (lawn bowls ones). It was pretty impresive.

I taught myself to juggle 3 while I was "studying" for my final year high school exams. I don't know any tricks but I'm not too bad at just juggling the three.

Its always been a dream of mine to go and join the circus. I started juggling when I was little. I can do four balls consistently. I have some flaming torches as well but just haven lit them up since I got to australia. Anyone know of any juggling clubs or anything in sydney?. Good juggling shops would also be appreciated.

I've been juggling for a while. Can only juggle 4 balls (3 tricks - 3 ball cascade, waterfall, over the top - shitty tricks :P) but I can also juggle clubs (3), rings and devil sticks ...
I've never tried a diablo but it looks pretty cool.
You can order alot of stuff from Circusshop.net (Perth) or head on down to the rocks markets on the weekends in Sydney and they sell decent shit down there (bring your wallet, no no, your *heavy* wallet).
If you're looking for a good set of clubs you can't go past Beard (http://www.eclipse.co.uk/pens/beard/). They make some great clubs. I've only got the multicoloured circus clubs, but they are considered to be the best beginnner 'real' club available, and they're only about $30/ea.
If anyone's got any good ball trick sites, bring em on ...

Glebe markets in sydney, usually has a stall with some juggling clubs/balls, diablos etc.. might be cheaper than the rocks..

Yes, my avatar is me doing the mills mess (hopefully). I can do quite a few three ball tricks, cascade, reverse cascade, tennis, under the net tennis, all over the top, hmmm should I go on? *talks to self* go on then. Windmill, shuffle, shower, half shower, pistons, boston mess, factory (robot/machine), orbits, something that tries to resemble the rubinstein's revenge, box, chops, under the leg/s, behind the back, forks (my own variation) one I invented myself (well I've never seen it anywhere else), I call vesuvius, the flash, three ball starts, *thinks about getting Dancey's encyclopaedia out* fake, yo-yo, weave, oy-oy, columns and maybe a couple more I can't remember. :D
Four balls fountain and I think I got the shower going slightly once.
Five ball cascade.
Loads of shit with the clubs (though not as much as with the balls) which gives a really good workout (lost me three stone when I used to practice), chops is especially frantic, under the legs and round the back, used to combine these which was quite good.
Loads of diabolo (notice the extra "O") tricks, up the string and catch it on the top stick, shit like that, got quite good, learnt to do two on the same string, can even do a few tricks if I'm warmed up, although it's been awhile.
Devil sticks I can keep going and do the basic double flips and throw it high, can't do the helicopter spins. Seen a guy do two, one on each stick in his hands, stood there and kept the helicoptor spins going.
Unicycle, though I can't stay in the same place and I never learnt to juggle on one, I managed just 19 catches with three balls.
Oh dear look what you've done. Got me talking about playing with my balls. I'm very rusty ATM as I haven't done any much recently, apart from for my avatar.
The thing with juggling is the timing (*yawn* *snore*). Most patterns are what they call three three. E.g. the cascade. The rules are both numbers in a three ball pattern must add upto six. Three plus three see? Two hands. So you also get four two, like a true half shower, not just all over the top that's still a three three (with me?). If the right hand throws a four ball, then for the pattern to work, the left must throw a two. A shower would be a five one. My right hand would give the ball five times as much airtime as the left.
I was thinking of starting a thread, with some gifs in if anyone was interested, but I'm having my modem taken off me tommorow (wednesday) so that's a bit pointless. Anyway I don't think I'll be around for a bit, but if you want to know anything (not saying I can help) I'll try.

I juggle though not much anymore. I used to take it fairly serious. I was very proficient with 3 objects. I like clubs the best. I also have torches that I haven't used in years. I juggled in the streets for beer money and I even attended the RB and B & B clown college years ago when it was in Venice, FL. My interests have changed so I simply don't juggle that much anymore but sometimes at the request of my kids I will pick up the clubs and put on a little show or to piss the wife off I juggle produce in the grocery store. In my new location there is a lot of foot traffic downtown and I have often thought of passing the hat again as a source of income but I'm not sure I'm up to it anymore.

I never did any busking, I always got the idea that people thought you were begging. I did a few galas (nearly missed the last "A" out then, that would have been much more impressive :D). Got paid, but there wasn't enough work there, especially in the winter, read none.
Started doing a youth club, that was a good laugh, one night a week with my mates dad, didn't get paid, wasn't bothered about it, just something to do. Some of the kids got quite into the diabolo. It's pretty easy to pick up, very hard (for me) to put down.
Things really took off when I started doing balloon modelling for the younger ones that couldn't get involved with the diabolos. Jeez, everyone wanted a balloon, there was no time to juggle. Blow up a pink one and say to the mother "Bet you've never had something that big and pink waved in your face before." :D Corny, but fun.

I learned to juggle 4 balls at one time. And then moved on to making balloon animals. Which I was much better at and the kids liked it better than the juggling.

Heh heh. It's such a shame, all that effort into juggling, hours a day, days a week for years and a few balloons are all you need. :D
[Edit] I once met this guy at this gala, Nan. His name escapes me now, but if I remember it I'll see if he's on the net. Anyway, he made full sized Mickey Mouses, full sized daleks, almost a full sized bi-plane, a full sized Harley. Loads of massive stuff, he took balloon modelling to the next level. Sort of inspired me a bit but I never got past a couple or so balloons in my creations. I didn't really get the passion for it.

I got fairly proficient with three. I met this really cool juggling guy will at Bush Gardens Funpark in Virginia. He taught me chops and something else that I dont know the name for. I never have time anymore although now that I'm single again, I might get back into it. I found it quite difficult to do a four ball cascade. I'm able to keep 4 going but when I start cascading them it just goes to shit. Flashed 5 a few times.
Devil sticks......Ahhh.....Give me some devil sticks and I can tear it up. Helicopters, flips, spins, kicks, twirls, over body parts.... I think that was what really got me into juggling. Maybe I'll bring them back with me when I go home and visit in november.....

The four ball cascade doesn't work. Because of those things I mentioned before about numbers. Four balls are juggled in a fountain, two in each hand, each throw is a four adding up to eight, if you want to do a cascade your hands have to throw as if they are juggling five balls, so you end up with a gap where the fith ball would fit in. In effect you'd really be doing the five ball cascade but with a ball missing.
You can do other patterns with four that work, but I never really learnt any. There is the four ball shower, each ball is thrown from one hand high into the other where it is passed quickly back to the first hand, this is a seven one, one of the hands throws a ball giving it seven times as much airtime as the other hand's throws. You could also do a half shower which would be a six two or a five three depending on the ratio of the throws to each other.
GTG, then I'm offline for a while :( so don't think I'm being ignorant :D

Naw....I never stick with any ONE thing. I did the juggling and balloons because of a position I had with the YMCA and JEA. We were always having carnivals and promotional stuff for the kids. I did the balloons because the kids loved it. Swords and poodles. Wonder how many balloons it would take to make a Harley! Or if he used special long ones. And where would you buy them!?
