Hey all,

I was hoping for some assistance on Power Supplies.

I have a Asus A7N8X-X with an Athlon XP 2000 +, 512MB Ram, 7200 RPM HDD, Geforce 4 Ti 4800 SE, 12X Speed DVD Drive. After upgrading the Video Card FRom a G-Force 2 Ti to the G-Force 4 Ti 4800 SE, the machine has been playing up, only for me to discover the Power supply just can't cope (250W A-Open). I run it with my 300 Watt A-Open PSU from my other machine and it runs sweet ; ). Now the case I for this machine is exactly what I want (Front USB, audio and good space and Fan mounts) so I am not keen to buy a new case and PSU.

So I am just looking for a good (preferable 350 Watt) PSU, I also have to consider price so I was wondering does anyone have any recommendations for a well price and reliable 300 or 350 Watt PSU???

Your help is appreciated.....

Hmmm....I fear you may spend more time, effort & money on looking for exactly the right one when they're much of a muchness these days.

I run a 380w Antec.
Apparently you can get it to control case fans. I don't have any, so I wouldn't know. :p

Ummmm, whats in your other machine?

The logical thing to do would be to swap the PSU's, provided that the other machine runs fine on your 250w.

Most decent brand name PSU's start at around $80.

I'd go with either Topower or Enermax. I own a Topower Phantom 371W and it powers my rig without breaking a sweat. (Also, it's black, which is too cool.) Enermax has been making high quality Power supplies for the masses for more years than I can remember, and they're well known for their reliability.

Don't get Antec because... well I just don't like them.

Thanks all for you help :) .
In the other machines i am running are an Athlon 1800 XP +, Abit KR7A-Raid board with a G-Force FX 5600, 1GB Ram, 2 x 80 IDE 7200 ATA 133 Drives, burner, Nic and a few fans, and It requires the 300 Watter cause i was running a 250 Watter (real cheap and nasty one) and I poped it :D .

The other 2 machines are 2.2 and 2.4 Athlon XP's and they both have 300 Watters and they both need a them, so a buying i will have to go buy another PSU....

I am suprise about negative feedback on Antec after I have heard pretty good things about them....

Anyway, thanks again....

P.S. Yes, I know I have to many pc's and I need to get out more :D ....
