I am trying to copy my version of BF1942 so I can use it in the cd-drive instead of the original.

I have download alcohol 120% which I have on good advice can do this.

How can I find out what copy protection it is using so I can use the right filter?

I would prefer to find out the correct way before I experiment and waste many a blankcd.

I don't know how you find out, but its never not been a general copy protected CD for any game ever if that helps.

Can't remember the website, but it lists all the types of copy protection, and how to beat them (ie what burning software to use), and under each type of protection it listed the games using it.

I found it while searching for a way to crack/copy Operation Flashpoint. That may be a good way to search. It uses FADE technology, so a search using both of those keywords may get results.

Good luck man

gamecopyworld should help, they have another sister site with more information on copy protection... I think it's cdcopy world... you just have to find out more info

if you are burning from disc to disc origional to copy, then you should try CloneCD with a Sony burner... my brother uses this method and it gets around EVERY copy protection, just have to use the copy to run the game...

There used to be a program paired with CloneCD called ClonyXL. Don't know if it's still about tho...

It would detect the type of copy protection and set CloneCD up with the appropriate parameters.

I copied my original cd2 of BF1942 last night and woohoo I can go online using it.

Thats all I cared about as it freaks me out having my orignal in the cd-drive all the time.

big al you are right on the money. I went to gamecopyworld and looked around, ended up getting clonyxxl and found the protection. Didn't link it to clonecd though. I did see somewhere it mentioned that so in future i'll give that ago.

Thanks for all the help everyone. BF 1942 is the only cd I have not been able to copy.
