I originally posted this thread here (http://forums.zgeek.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=12460) but I know that I'm going to get a different reaction from the Discussions forum than the one I'll get in B&R.

A lot of the "in here" stuff refers to B&R, so don't go looking for flame war threads in Discussions, they don't exist.

OK, guys. It seems that the whole flame war thing is getting a bit out of hand. Maestro just left because he didn't like what was going on, and while normally I'd say "Yeh, well FUCK YOU!" over this, I actually like Maestro and am sad to see him go.

I'll agree with the notion that this isn't really funny anymore. It's all well and good to get some angst out of your system every once in a while, but when it becomes the dominant part of a forum you have to sit back and go "Wait, this isn't that BDSM forum I signed up for, this is Zgeek". This is a place where people come together to have fun, screw around and make jokes. Or at least it was in the past and hopefully it will be again in the near future.

Some of us might enjoy flaming from time to time, I know I do, but that doesn't mean that it's going to be 100% fun 100% of the time. Grumblefish and Asskickergod do a much better job of a flame war than I do, and as a result it's generally not as entertaining. There are people who don't enjoy reading the flame wars that those two partake in, so I can only imagine that reading my sloppy shit must be a bit of a headache.

We've had our fun for now and while I don't want to be setting up this part of the forums to be all serious, work safe and flame-free, it would be good to reach a mid-point where we have the freedom to do whatever sort of thing we want to without having to worry too much about it turning into a shit-fight.

Every time one of these occurs, Zgeek dies a little. Members get fed up with this kind of crap, and in extreme cases they start to leave. I don't want to be responsible for this site losing traffic and members because of something I've said. I don't think Pirate would be too pleased with that.

We can have fun without resorting to name calling and insulting each other's mother. I've started a few threads that prove this, it'd just help if others caught on and started being constructive as well.

I cross-posted this in Discussions so I get could get some well thought out posts as replies. I actually wanted some serious discussion to come out of posting this thread in this forum as well as B&R. If you're not going to add to the discussion constructively go and post in the B&R thread, or make your own thread about it. Just because the moderation style has changed doesn't mean that the rules have completely broken down and are to be ignored. This is a forum for discussion, not one line replies to a complex topic.

You spend a long campaign to make bitching and rants into a bitching and rants forum, you made a big hullabuloo about not being able to slander people, that everytime you posted you were moderated or what not.

The way i see it you got your wish. Bitching and rants has just turned into an injoke between a few people. Now that one of the people you care about has left, you change tune, now its all be nice to one another.

Frankly you asked for bitching and rants to be turned loose..

I didn't ask for Bitching and Rants to be sledging only. Sure, it's the place that's the most likely to contain the flame wars, but there's more to it than that. Have you read anything I've said in the Suggestions forum? I'm not after a place where the only thing going on is insults.

You seemed to be the main instigator of a lot of the flameage from where I sit. Mind you, I didn't read most of it as such discussions bore me shitless due to the fact they show no intelligence, only creativity. Intelligence is a losing factor in flamewars as points are habbitually ignored showing an even greater lacking of intelligence from the person who is the most creative.

My point? I find it rather ironic that you are claiming you didn't ask for it to become like that, but I'm happy to see you taking steps to move it away from there. I would like to be able to bitch AND rant without people coming in to the thread and taking it over with completely irrelivant off-topic posts such as what happened to Princess's(?) bitch. Once again though, you did start bringing it back on topic again afterwards which was good.

Just because that thread allows slagging & flaming, doesn't mean every thread should have it. Judge by what has been in it so far as to whether the creator welcomes it or not. I know I wouldn't want it in any of my threads.

Just because I replied to it doesn't mean I started it. Sure, I flamed Unsavoury_type, we're both aware of that. I wasn't the one who said: SAVOURY-TYPE SURE DOES POST A LOT OF SHIT in an unrelated thread.

I didn't do this sort of thing as a justification for flaming Nandragon (or LauraleeBug). I've got totally different reasons for flaming them, and I want to see people enjoying themselves on these forums. That's why I've been starting threads that have some sort of humour in them, instead of blatantly going "Here's a thread to flame each other in".
