This is an in-dash hard-drive based MP3 player (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-VOAhfkD7wKs/cgi-bin/prodview.asp?s=0&cc=01&i=575DMP1&g=50800), that will slot into a standard DIN. It runs a removable 20GB hard drive, and can connect to your computer via USB 2.0 so you can transfer files.

That's pretty passe, of course. Its been done, for quite some time now.

However, the cool part is when you pick up the optional WiFi interface (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-8xhiDMdxmzq/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?i=575DWL121) for it. You can transfer your MP3s to your car without having to remove the hard drive from the vehicle.

You can set it up to auto-synch your music, so you can just rip a whole bunch of music, and then have it transferred to your car later.

Mummy I want one. Feel free to buy me one for Christmas. Or two, if you're feeling particularly generous.

Yeah, that one isn't bad. The only reason the first one attracts me is that it does have WiFi, which means not having to pull the HDD out to synch (which means you're less likely to forget to put it back in the car if you leave in a hurry).

And, if I go to a friend's place, I can always leechz0r their files as long as their WiFi can get to their garage :)

Dang that's awesome. I want two.
Not sure If Wifi will reach the garrage though. Bit of a downer
Oh well, maybe after I get my RX7 I'll get one.....

None of these other head units have an interface to synchronise my car player with my home player. Bah! The cool thing about the original head unit was the fact that it was wireless.

That means I'd have to pull the hard drive out (or carry my computer in), and if I wanted to actually take that much effort, I wouldn't be driving. :)

......as opposed to actually listening to the song and remembering the name of one of the tracks you copied onto your player?

This function will be really cool when I've muted the stereo, so I know exactly what song I'm not listening to....

Mmmmh, thats a nice MP3 player, would go good in my new car, when I finally get it back!!.... it's a VS commodore with brand new 18x8 mags and a VT senator Bodykit... this is what it looks like: except mine is white with grey inserts, VT SS seats and a Clarion stereo already in it
