Who here is a Guru at backing up games?
Now what I hate is that SOME games can't be backed up successfully using normal backing up techniques. This is a shame as since they can be quiet expensive it would be nic to back them up as my kiddies like to use them as carpet skates now and again.
Now their are copy protections like safedisk/2 etc and what I want to do is backup a number of the games I own so I can put the originals away and just use the backups in the cd-drive JUST in case they wreck them.
Stuff I have tried are clonecd, alcohol 120% even nero without much success. Any ideas where I am going wrong?

This link from www.gamecopyworld.com may give you some useful hints...

Game Copy World (http://www.gamecopyworld.com/) is excellent for cracks (i.e. running games without CD's).
Otherwise I would suggest the latest verison of CloneCD. Havn't found a game it won't *cough* backup *cough*.
Or... if you have a fast connection. Download a backup of your game (may be less hassle) using a p2p app - I suggest Shareaza. ;)

I tend to use a combination of CloneCD (burning at the lowest speed possible) and no-cd keys from Megagames or GameCopyWorld. That way I can have a backed up copy to reinstall with while the originals are kept safely away from flatmates.
Never had any success with Nero. Never tried alcohol (the software at least).

ersatz is right there... but there's just a few things I have to add...
you can bypass most of these sites if you understand the very nature of copy protections. most nowerdays use SafeDisk, easy to crack if you have ALL the versions of unSafeDisk (gamecopyworld for this). others might have F.A.D.E on them. Operation:Flashpoint,:RedHammer & :Resistance are the only games/addons I've seen with it, but if you do get a game with it on it, you'll know...
F.A.D.E "fades" in... you copy the game, it works fine for a while, then slowly gets worse and worse performance till it's unplayable... then you crack the shits, reinstall and see it's exactly the same... it has no known crack that works on it... so if you get a game with F.A.D.E you're F.U.C.K.E.D.

I personally think FADE is a scam to cover up any possible performance issues
i have flashpoint, the add-on, resistance and v* Race Driver (only codemasters games have it), alll of which ii've been able to crack, none of them seem to actually have fade.......without the crack tha game just won't launch,.....it be a scam
