Placing phone calls on the Internet

I remember the craze with placing phone calls on the Internet back in the late 90's.

I've just checked the Net2Phone webpage and, while the software is still free, you have to pay for "call time".

Is there any software out there that is still completely free (ie. free software and free calls preferably without ad-ware)? The reason I'm asking is because I wanna use it to record one Joan Christwiper Screwball and use it for sampling and generally taking the piss out of him.

I don't think there are anymore free calling services really....I used to LOVE dialpad.com...they had like free calls to anywhere in the US...I'd have a ball with that thing.....(prank calls were not traceable, and i could call my friends that had moved) too bad they charge now...
