Wow i just saw this on Gamespot. Apparently someone has had a glimpse at what FFX12 is going to be like
TOKYO--The first images of Final Fantasy XII from the weekly Jump magazine have begun to leak on the Internet through anonymous sources. Judging by the images and text in the magazine, Final Fantasy XII will take place in a fantasy world where there are other races aside from humans, and flying vessels fill the sky. A number of landscape pictures show that the world of Final Fantasy XII will have different environments; one area in the world looks urban with tall buildings, while another location appears to be tropical. There seems to be some sort of war going on in the world of FFXII, as one of the CG illustrations shows an army of soldiers equipped with spears, and another CG shows a soldier riding on a chocobo.
Talk about stating the bloody obvious!!!!
I mean im a HUGE fan of the series but , its a pretty stupid press release.

Not many people pay it mind, but i feel like doing a musical rundown.
[B]The music in Final Fantasy XII will be co-produced by Nobuo Uematsu and Hitoshi Sakimoto (Final Fantasy Tactics, Vagrant Story). Sakimoto will be composing the general tracks, while Uematsu will be concentrating on a single track that will run during one very important scene. The team commented that they are working on a vocal track as well, or at least something they refer to as a "substitute" for a vocal track. [B]
As slanderous as It may seem, I find this a bit relieving.
Im a huge fan of Uematsu's work, but his last few games, were... pretty lacking. In fact, the soundtrack to FF10 was for the most part, absolute arse. Im assuming this big track is gonna be an orchestal peice, and I can only hope so, because thats what Uematsu really excels at. His more inventive off-branches, like that metal bit "Other World" from FF10 and well, almost anything from 10 for that matter, just dont compare to his orchestral-schemed tracks: "Liberati Fatali" and "The Landing" being two examples of my case.
Despite any turbulence caused by Sakimoto replacing Uematsu for the first time in a FF soundtrack, Im rather excited about it. Vagrant Story remains one of my favorite game soundtracks of all time. It has a darker tone, and is quite well orchestrated. He tends to find a sort of harmony through dissonance ("Limestone Quarry", "Greyland Event Climax") which only builds excitement rather than offending the ear. Final Fantasy Tactics was also brilliant. It managed to shine using a classical orchestral setting: No techno tracks, no rock jams, no gimmicks. Instead of just slapping a generalized battle theme on a player, Sakimoto composed a different theme for virtually every environment and situation, something which is only able to draw a player deeper into the game.
Cant wait to play (and hear) this game.

I beta tested FFXII/HDD for PS2...It was pretty good, not exactly my type of game but I can see how it gets addiciting..I was beta testing SOCOM II at the same time so most of my time went towards it...Both good games though.
