because there are more boys under 25 driving then girls - therefore by probability, boys under 25 have more accidents then girls under 25 therefore the insurance costs more.

I had a look at the numbers and you are right there are 8% more male drivers under 25. However let us add some logic:

If men and women drivers where of equal ability than there would be no need for a specific sex to pay a higher premium.

You theory is chicks can’t drive, hence they get into more accidents. If this was the case wouldn’t it be the girls who paid the higher premiums?

Male drivers are more likely than their female counterparts to be involved in serious car smashes, AAMI crash statistics show.

Men are more likely to roll their vehicle than women, and suffer more head-on smashes and accidents involving cyclists, pedestrians and animals.

Female drivers are more likely to be involved in collisions where the vehicle is reversed into another vehicle, or collides with a stationary object, the statistics show.

But female drivers are less likely than males to have received a traffic fine, according to a survey of 1601 motorists conducted for AAMI. Seventy-nine per cent of men said they had received a traffic infringement fine during their driving life, compared with 58 per cent of women. Male drivers were also far more likely to have had their licence suspended. Twenty per cent of men surveyed had their licence suspended compared with 3 per cent of women.

The survey revealed that many motorists have lowly views of the driving standards of younger drivers. Forty-four per cent of respondents nominated male drivers under 25 years as the worst drivers on the roads. The next highest vote for worst drivers went to female drivers under 25, who attracted 15 per cent of the vote.

The survey also suggested that younger drivers had the most disdain for speed restrictions. Fifty-one per cent of young men said they would speed if they could get away with it, compared with 31 per cent of young women drivers.

And some men continue to have worrying attitudes towards drink-driving. In all age groups, at least twice as many men as women believe it is acceptable to drink and drive as long as you feel capable of driving.

For every kilometre travelled, female drivers are more likely than male drivers to be admitted to hospital as a result of a road crash (Attewell, 1998). Female drivers are also driving further. Total distance travelled by female drivers has increased by 43% from 1985 to 1995. In the same period, the total distance travelled by male drivers increased by only 7% (Attewell, 1998).

As I start turning right on the round about, a woman driver decides she will try to go straight along the round about. I had to break harshly cos of this fuckin woman driver nearly fucking smashing into her.

Women in general are more multi-skilled and likely to be multi-tasking at any one time. I think that could lead to the increase in more "absent minded" accidents.

Men struggle beacuse they have two balls hanging down that make testosterone flood the brain and make you want to seek adventure.

This happens to me almost every day, and they are usually old men in hats or young guys

There’s crappy female and male drivers, personally I think the ones causing the accidents are either young guys trying to show off to their mates and/or girls watching, bimbos/airheads who get too distracted by other things going on or old people who think they own the road!! Especially old men in hats!@!@!

its prett ymuch true, most women are just plain bad drivers. The thing is, they don't even realize it.

First of all, most women have in ingrained thing of bargaining with themselves. they will come up with most any BS excuse or completely unsound bit of 'chick logic' to justify them doing what they're doing.

While they might not get into as many accidents according to statistics, they tend to CAUSE a hell of a lot more accidents, but thats rarely on the reports, since teh cops and mainly insurance are concerned with 'who hit who'

I am not a great driver, but I don't hoon and I concentrate, so I don't have any problems, all the near smashes I have now are generally becasue of someone else. When I was younger it was a different story.
I know many people who are bad drivers who don't have any accidents, and I know people who are good drivers and have had lots of accidents, mainly because they thing "fuck I'm a good driver, I can go around this corner at 400km/ph."

I have had 3 friends have bad accidents. 1 (male) stole the car crahsed and killed himself. Another (male) rolled a Patrol with 3 passengers, all had the usual neck, back pain. The other, female, crashed her parents falcon and put her friend in hospital.

The worst (well, a little better than the one who died) is the guy whole rolled the car, he didnt even learn his lesson, still drives like a fucking nob, regardless of who is in the car, where he is going, what he is doing, which I hate, since i dont feel comfortable being in his car, i am trusting my life to him and he treats it like its nothing.

Personally, i dont know which sex is better, would like to think males are, but im pretty sure the most frustrating drivers are female.

Just for the record, i am a male driver under 25. (Which to most, will probably void all of my observations/argument)

As a firefighter for 14 years , i must say woman drivers are shit because i have cut way more sheilas out of cars then men (animal run in front of me, i had to swerve to hit it excuse) but seeing as i want to watch the australia - england rugby union world cup final at the pub on the big screen and will need a ride home from my wife to-day i have to disagree with you gentlemn 100% but if you ask me tomorrow my opinion may change (saying i survive car ride from pub tonight ) cheers big ears ! - jacko :banana:

Men seem to have more accidents.

In my oppinion women (generalisation) are bad drivers coz:

- they are frequently driving under the speed limit

- they take for fucking ever to do things

- they are hesitant (see above)

that sort of stuff is what pisses me off. I ride a motorbike now and am a total nutter so people hardly ever get in my way.

In my experience, I find that women drive above the speed limit. I rarely ever get passed while commuting, but its generally women that do.

Those that do pass me, however, don't have that "hell bent on getting where I'm going in 5 minutes" look that characterises the average male that passes me. They're not concentrating, weaving through traffic, and accelerating like morons and then hitting the brakes when they get stuck behind people.

They've got the much more relaxed, "I'm not paying attention to how fast I'm going, because I've not no fucking clue what all these things on the dash mean", look about them.

In biological terms, men should be better drivers, as we are "designed" to have better judging of speed and distance and all that stuff.

Men also have worse insurance records than women because how many family cars that the wife drives to the shops are insured in the husbands name.

Also, how many young girls cars are insured in dads name cause it will be cheaper, whn the youg girl smashes her car, who cops the insurance? Dad.

I've also seen so many women just begging for a smash, eg. Women who put on their face paint in the rear view mirror whilst in traffic, or going down the freeway. That IMHO is just fucking stupid.

with the how insurance things at the beginning, surely theyll work with % rather than actual figures?

generally in my experience, if someone is gonna cut you up on the road its gonna be a guy, but if they are just driving too fucking slowly! its going to be a middleaged woman.

hate people who drive too slowly, one of my friends dads drives 60mph in a 70, now, ok, hes not going silly slowly, but it takes longer, doesnt really make much difference in the long run & is really irritating! i was just like, 'drive faster god damn it!' & another friends mum doesnt drive places that she doesnt know the roads, wtf is that all about. shurely its just really boring only driving in places you know? luckily both my parents are fine, i have no issues with the way either of my parents drive.

It's a fact that when it comes to driving skills men will win hands down. In world class driving/riding women can't cut it!

Unfortunatly said skills don't mean all that much when your driving on suburban streets. Male/Female/Transexual there's so many shit drivers on the road these days your just as likely to get wiped out by a guy as a woman.

But I do agree, women can't drive!
(neither can asians, merc drivers or taxi drivers!)

I would have to say that the absolute worst drivers are rich stupid moronic women driving their kids to school in 4wd's. As a professional road user for 7 years I have seen some pretty stupid stuff but rich women in 4wd's were the ones who tried to kill me more that any other driver. 2 of them and one stupid bitch in a Mercedes sports actually managed to take me out.

A large percentage of men killed on roads are professional drivers who average between 10 to 18 hours on the road a day. Truck drivers,couriers and fucking cab drivers.(As a group I hate them as much as stupid bitches in 4wd's)

Young drivers both men and women think that they are better drivers than they actually are,young men are more likley to be charged and found guilty of offences as women because a guy who cries in front of the cops is just gay but women will get sympathy and get off or get a lessor penalty.

What's the ratio of deaths per kilometre driven for males compared to females? Given that men generally drive more than women do, its hardly fair to compare on that figure.

And, as a hypothetical to show how specious that provided statistic is, if a woman driver was to run over a man that would further increase the ratio. Does that make her a better driver?

In other news, did you know that infinitely more women have died in car accidents this year than being killed by a nuclear bomb? By your "logic", that would mean nuclear weapons are far less dangerous than driving.

When you made your first post about a chick winning the chamionship, Jacky something, i thought you were joking. I was going to reply with something along the lines of "yeah, don't forget that other 'woman' Jodie Sheckter!". Now i realise you are serious.

Jodie Scheckter is actually a South African bloke who won the F1 chamionship in 79 for Ferrari. He retired at the end of 1980 and became quite succesful in arms dealing or something like that. No woman has ever won a race, or even come close. A chick won a non-championship race at Brands Hatch in 1978 IIRC, can't remember her name. By that stage non-championship F1 races usually consisted of a shitty 3 y/o F1 car vs some lawn mowers. See the 1981 Australian GP for a prime example. The last chick to drive an F1 car was Giovanni Amati in 1992 who drove for the sihithouse Brabham team, and she did even more shithouse. She got fired by the team half way through the season and was replaced by Damon Hill who qualified for the British & Hungarian GPs IIRC.
