This thread is based, obviously, on the best evil dude, or
boss monster from a video or computer game. I was thinking
about game endings, those that are exciting and fun, those that
are lame and boring, those that make you whoop with joy, those
that make you wish you hadn't wasted your money and time
on a game with such a piece of shit ending.
These are the best game endings in my opinion:
1. Planescape Torment: Redemption ending - you reclaim your
mortality, resurrect your companions, stop to talk to each one
and say goodbye, then get sucked down to Hell and storm
straight into the Demon Wars to kick some ass!
2. Baldurs Gate 2: Irenicus falls! That was so kickass, beating
that smug son of a bitch down and watching him lose all of
his magic and getting the asskicking of a lifetime.
3. Diablo 2: The story ends, the madman thinking he has been
talking to an angel all this time, and then it is revealed to be
the final demon, who sets the place aflame and stalks
dramatically from the asylum.... that made me w00t!
And these are the worst:
1. Tomb Raider 1: All that game, all the movies, all those traps
and all the puzzles and thinking and struggling to get through it
and what do we get? Lara drives away and then we get a shot of
her in a nighty smiling. WORST. ENDING. EVER!
2. Return To Castle Wolfenstien: Well sir all the bad guys are
dead now oh and our man is out killing some more Nazi scum!
Hoorah! Nice how the game is completely anti-climactic huh?
3. DukeNukem3d - While Duke punting the final boss' head
through the goal was hilarious..... that was it? All the bad
guys are beaten now? And we get a held image of Duke and
a chick along with a lame, sexist voiceover?
Lame endings piss me off, after the length of time I put into that
game, I wanted something awesome to make me feel satisfied I
played it, not a quick laugh and then sitting around thinking,"Is
that it?" A bad ending to a game can ruin even the best of
games, especially since the 3 bad endings I listed are from
three of my favourite games.
