this is actually a decent game. I've been playing it alot this week and I quite enjoy it.
I dont like how you have to put 16 ton of shit on your car just to build up a reputation though....
Pity there are no pulsars in the game... hehe

Need for Speed games, i dunno if i'd invest in another one after NFS:HP 2. I had always been a big fan, especially NFS3, I spent ages making custom cars and putting them on the net and stuff, my best was the Fifth Element Taxi, .. anyways HP2, was like a stweph back with better graphics. Gone was the awesome weather brought in many games ago, gone was night driving, and the bility to turn these things on and off, to me that really detracted... not to say i aint spent a fair bit of time playing the game, but yeah it was such a disapointment from little cool NFS features missing.

Yeah, it kinda sux how there is no day/night transition or weather effects, but these got taken out of the need for speed games a long time ago. Besides, those sorts of things will only decrease the game's performance on lower end systems anyway.
You can upgrade your car, however the upgrade system kinda sux. Like you only get options like Engine level 2, then Level 3 etc.... can't upgrade individual parts of the engine to make a truely unique machine.
You can do lots of appearance mods, but again, they are like level 2, level 3 etc.... and alot of the appearance things look dumb anyway.
What really sux is that if you win lots of races, you get to earn lots of money, yet, you have to win a shit load of races inorder to 'unlock' the extra upgrades and cars, meaning you end up having heaps of money all the time and nothing to spend it on. Stupid....
Other than that it's a pretty fun game to play. I'm sure it will keep me busy for some time now! :D

I am going to buy this game. I'm really enjoying playing the...uh...demo version.

Despite what the the game may not have (eg. a proper tuning interface and doof-doof upgrades, which would be funny and cool), I think it's excellent fun. It looks pretty and makes me like rice. And I can race in a VW Golf which is hilarious. I agree with cray - it's an arcade rice-boy racer and as that type of game it rules and I have sore keyboard fingers from playing it too much (yes, it's even started eating into my fapping time :p).

I bought this yesterday for my PS2, initially i wasn't impressed with it, (frame rate seemed to be slow and the control system was a tad wierd) after a couple of hours of playing and turning the map view from 3d to 2d (which improverd the FPS an absolute shitload i might add) I find it very enjoyable to play.

My only gripe is that it doesn't have a replay function. I have played a lot of races where i would have loved to have watched the replay as i pulled off some rather extraordinary moves by accident.

Other than that i am very happy with it now.

The NOS effect is teh leet when under the influence :D

After losing many hours sleep and nearly heaving the whole console out the window when i lost by .01 of a second, I have found a trick for NFS.
If you have isssues with any races drop your car to the golf with fuck all mods, keep the top speed down and crank the acceleration and handling.

This limits the speed of the other cars and makes it easier to take the corners.

I just finished race 86 by changing into the golf, sure i had the damn thing whining the whole time, redlined to the max in 5th for 3 perfect laps.. :)

Kinda sucks that my skyline flying round the track tricked out to the max with only a few corner touches results in 2nd, 3rd or 4th place finishes where as a nearly stock golf comes in 1st..

I bought it for $69 and i wish i hadnt. Its really annoying how there is no LAN racing option. also the fact that you have to go through 110 annoying stupid races to unlock everything.

By the time you get to play the full game your already sick of it!

God i hate having to UNLOCK everything. I thought that was what money was supposed to do.

Lots of people seem to have gotten their hands on the ... erm ... demo ;)

I got the XBox version, and my housemate got the PC version the other day. The PC version looks a hell of a lot better (running on a P4-3.2/1G-Ram/GeForce5700), but i'll still pick the XBox version as it means that i can collapse on the couch and play until my fingers are numb and i can't see the coffee table for used coffee cups and empty chip packets.

I didn't sleep on the weekend.

i've been playing it heaps, i know this is a standard complain about racing games, but sometimes i've found the oponants too hard if there is no traffic, like literally driving perfectly around no crashes u can't beat em. U have to try and get them to crash without crashing yourself.

i hate getting stuck on some of them, i swear though the main thing that always fucks me up and stops me from winning is running into traffic and the different skill levels pretty much only affect how good the other racers are

Got this about 3 hours ago for PS2. Now i've never been a big fan of racing games but I have to say I'm loving every minute of playing this game. The sound effects and music are :cool: as is the gameplay (except when you run into traffic :swear: ) and the graphics are pretty :cool: too.

i hate it when u fucking hit traffic, it takes so fucking long and its so anoying, and they put traffic in at the gayest times...

e.g going around a blind corner
when going down a hill and getting air and u friggin head on into a truck!! its bullshit moit.

yeah i agree with the traffic, majority of times i loose is because i hit unavoidable traffic.. nothing like, struggling in a race, getting ahead and u hit traffic that u can't avoid and so u loose, zand then same thing happening again and again

I think the traffic is fine. The thing that shits me is how the computer players know exactly where the traffic is so they can avoid it. Going around blind corners or over stupid hills. That IS stupid and frustrating. I would prefer if they're as blind as we are. The only consolation is that they seem to be unaware of traffic outside a particular range and as such their attempts to avoid can sometimes come to late.

Other gripe is my back wheels gently nudging another cars roof due to extreme arialness and it causing my entire car to do multiple flips and then spin on the ground. The crashes in this game are usually very time consuming.

what annoys me is the other cars never make any mistakes for the most part unless they hit traffic. so when its a map with no traffic its so friggin hard to beat them b/c u have to drive as perfectly as possible.

thats odd i find it harder to beat the oponants weithoput it. I usually end up going down to medium to end up winning, a couple times i was like fuck this and went on easy.

Try using the Mazda Miata for the harder races. I found it a lot more controlable, making it easier to dodge those stupid oncoming cars that never get out of my way.

It's also really good for the drift races.

I managed to finish the game using the Miata, in a mixture of hard and medium difficulty races. The ending isn't half bad either.

question: my stupid IE displays errors on the EA 'autoupdate' page, and won't run the script for some reason. Does anyone know where I can get the patches for it - somewhere other than the EA website?

I bought it a couple of days ago off Bittorrent, and have crowned it the one racing game I have ever enjoyed, so there you go. I keep getting all these messages saying that I have unlocked all these cars, the petey something car and some other one that sounded like shit, anyway I can't find them in either quick race or underground mode - any suggestions?

Well I have finally got a copy of this game due to everyone going on and on about how good it is and guess what. You are right. I haven't got into a car game as much since gran turismo. My little mx5 is fully sick moit and it even has sexy green neons installed and decals all over it. Since I have only completed about 11 levels/races I am too embarrased to display it in the other thread yet but I have just unlocked and installed NOS. Hmmm looking forward to tonight so I can kick some arse in NOS mode.

The cars are found in quick race mode, they are at the far right of the other cars, and guess what.... They suck!

I am about to stop playing this game and nevetr play again, i am stuck on 103 a7 lap circuit with no traffic and i ahve praced ever skill level and always come 3rd or 2nd, tis is fucked b/c i did most of the game on hard and medium, so i've decided noting down the times these alst few times i've played, I did a medium, the winning car came in at 6.33.17 i came in scenod at 6.33.58
so i go down the easy, the winner comes in at 6.17.68 i came in at 6.18.07
wtf uis going on with this came, i'm sorry but these cars on easy never crash and just drive perfect, the better i've been driving the better they are driving, i have a shit one and their times are all around mine, wtf, i am getting so so so pissed off at this game and its skill levels not meaning much all, all they mean is they don't hit fucking traffic as often, but with no traffic they are all about the same
like on the easy skill level how the fuck do the cars do the curcuit at the same times and sometimes better than on medium, i aint gone near hard setting since first few times i tried the curcuit, but its fully shitting me, the few times i've been like race leader first 6 laps, the last lap an opponant has always managed to bump me or the car spins out for no reason and i loose, like argh i hate when games get this frustrating and i can't move on and go back i'm fucking stuck, anyways i am just pissed off at it

Thats the AI's catch up logic at work.

I've found if you just get in front and cruise at in 3rd or 4th gear the other cars hang around behind you and if they overtake you just shift up and use a bit of NOS and your back infront again.

You can find these when playing online. You have the option to use them instaed of your own car.

I dunno its fucked, On easy the car infront of me just did it in 6.10 withanother 2 secs behind and me 3 secs behind, literally wtf, the better i drive the better they drive regardless of the skill level. Best i'd seen on medium wasn't even that good

I have played the game twice since I finished the last of the 111 "mission" races. There are no compelling reasons to replay it...

The multiplayer is OK though.
