the other day i hit cancel while burning an audio cd with nero on my lg 48x16x48x cdrw drive. it locked the drive at the time, so i rebooted the machine. since then i haven't been able to read or burn cds with the drive.

any suggestions before i go buy a new burner?

Sell your current burner to someone on eBay first.

Dont throw it at the wall when you take it out..

burners i would imagine are heavier than a cordless mouse and wuld make more of a whole in the wall....

just a thought

From this post forward only useful remarks will be tolerated. Recently there's been a lot of stupid remarks that do not serve the person with the problem. If you only have a joke or an off-topic comment to add then please don't post it.

Other than the obvious "load device manager, check device for immediate problems, uninstall device, reinstall with latest downloadable drivers" Im at a loss, tis a bummer. Odd way for the thing to just cut off. But if ya havent tried the generic approach of uninstall/reinstall, its worth a shot.

edit: if that doesnt work, and youre completely out of options other than tossing it, you may try installing it using generic windows cd drivers to see if it'll at least read, and that'll be a start...
btw, if their website doesnt distribute drivers,
www.driversguide.com just use the username "drivers", and password "all" ... its a generic user/pass they give upon registration....

A similar thing happened to me once. My burner locked up and would not eject. I had a CD stuck in there. After shutting down the computer (power off!), booting back up, still it would not eject. I had to manually eject it by sticking a paperclip into the little hole. I cant remember if that's what fixed it.

What i recommend you try is doing the manual ejection. Or flash it with the latest firmware? Maybe that will work?

Good choice. Liteons do proper EMF encoding. Which means you can burn 1:1 copies of copy protected CDs.
