G'day all :)

I bought two wireless network cards with the intention that I could use the 'net from anywhere in the house - and that works no worries :)

What I would also like to do is to gain access to my LAN via the Laptop.

I have a Win2k Pro box running WinProxy 3 for Internet & WinAmp
I have a fast WinXP box on the LAN to the Win2K box.
I have a WinXP Laptop on wireless.

The other Wireless card is in the Win2k box.

I am guessing either finding some software to bridge the two connections in the Win2K box, or setting up a separate IP range for the wireless, and finding some software to route between the two networks.

Overall aim: Share drives between all PCs.

Any software around to do this? I don't really want to have another PC running 24/7 if I can avoid it ;-)

ad-hoc mode perhaps?

oh wait, re-read it.. hus.. why not just toss in a cheapie access point centrally located and then leave then in infrastructure mode and then they become part of the network.

I vaguely remember reading that Microsoft will be releasing software to turn Windows into an AP. So you can use your desktop (assuming it has a WiFi NIC) as an Access Point.

Run a search through the IT news sites (or Microsoft's) for more info.

I would look it up, but I'm tired and on my way to being drunk.
