Oh..... my...... god........
Well i've only just got over what would have had to have been one of the most enjoyable nights out that i have ever had, and will be quite hard to beat.
These guys were simply amazing. Never have i smiled so much from the sheer talent that these guys have.
Hexstatic : Wow! DJ'ing and VJ'ing at the same timewhilst still interacting with the crowd. Simply amazing, what makes it good is that with The Familys Uber sound setup, they get to play in stereo which a lot of acts dont do now a days. With two great big projectors, projecting in stereo i might add, along with tracks that make use of a lot of panning adds up to an amazing experience, imagine perfectly timed visual aids in time with extremely powerful synths and samples. EG : one track had this sample of an anti aircraft gun firing and each time it fired they video of the cannon firing would be shown, this happining in rather quick succession and panning from left to right. These boys are good.
So much fun to dance to some good breakbeat and DnB, all the while having old 80's songs mashed up together with it. Even had the BBC's theme music with the Thames in the background
Amon Tobin - Well, what can be said about this man, simply put he absolutley destroyed the place, i heard what i've wanted to hear for so long now on a good system and never thought that something like this would be played in Brisbane. A big fuckoff mashup of ruff as nuts DnB, Drill n Bass, IDM and anything else that he could throw in two. Watching the VU meters on the amps and they bass and treble never left red, it was insane. The man is a genius.
And i gave him my lighter, the only time that i will ever give out my lighter and not expect it back :D
If they are playing at a town near you, i would encourage every single one of you to go and see any of them play. No matter what kind of music you like, You will walk out of it with a huge grin on your face after seeing what is one of the best shows around that you will get.
Best $27.50 i ever spent.
