AUSTRALIA will continue sending failed asylum-seekers back to Iraq, despite a plea from Baghdad's interim administration to keep them until the security situation improves.

It's pretty freakin disgraceful that we're sending people back to a country that is well and truly up the shitter right now. It just goes to show that Boat People don't win votes.

However, even if they were allowed to stay - we'd lock em up in some ditch out in the desert for a couple of years. For christ's sake - murderers have better conditions than that. Shame government, shame! :(

Have you seen "some ditch out in the desert"?

No? Didn't think so, and your (quoted) response proves that.

I've been inside one, as a visitor. My aunty was a security guard in a few in various states (WA, SA, NSW, and QLD). They have some facilities that not even I have as a free citizen.

I'd hardly call it a ditch in a desert.

Oh diddums they have a few things you don't have.

Hey i have an idea lets lock you up for a week or two because you are trying to escape being killed and see how you feel then.

What a selfish view.

I think her point was that it's not some run down little shack out in the desert, and that the facilities are better than what HiredGoon said they were.

Thanks for pointing that out, i understood what she was saying.

But i do agree murderers do get better treatment and facilities that most refugees.

Also, if you read the article, all those who were returned had agreed to be returned. Ie. it was voluntary.
