Hi Guys,

I'm evaluating some Mail-to-Fax gateways, and I was wondering what people's experioences with these packages were...

Any suggestions on a particular system I should go for?

Thanks in advance :)

Oh Yeah - Sorry :)

It's Exchange 2000

Back in the days of Exchange 5.5, I had a Linux box with a set of python scripts called "Hylafax" that used to do the job nicely. I'm sure that it could still do the job with a similar amount of tweaking. The great thing about this is that I used to have hylafax also send SMS to me when things were borked at work too...

We used to use a program called winfax with an exchange 2000 server, it workd fine.
There was an external consultant who started selling it to other clients becase it worked so well for us, but he said that he doesn't notice much difference, if they say they work on the box then they all work.

We use Message Manager, in a Notes environment. It supports exchange and we have been fairly happy with it, in that it gets the job done. It does go down occaisionally though.

I have had issue with Winfax pro.... but that was getting info exported from a prograss DB and faxing it to client, mainly issues with formatting and stuff. For lotus notes they have their own fax server which I have tested in another company that rocks... the one Spingo is talking about I have nfi, but sounds good :) of course it also depends on the features your after, but for exchange it self... maybe winfax or see what other options are MS related. If you really need I can look in to it as I am sure our new SOE'y project team is looking at a few.

I'm trialing a product called GSFaxPro. It's a Exchange-integrated system that was a bit hairy to set up at first but it seems to be running well now...

You have to define a new mail routing connector and stuff and it's a bit more intrusive than I would have liked, but I have to admit - it seems rock solid, and it only generates a tiny amount of CPU load...

I like it coz it's easy for the peons, i mean users, to use - they just email "fax#@fax.com" and their email and attachments are faxed off.

Incomming faxes are delivered directly to the receptionists' mail box and they forward it on as appropriate...

I'll give it a week or so and let you guys know how it works out...
