lotus notes common problems?

i have to support lotus notes again after a long abscence and need to try and remember some common problems.

i remember how to reset a password using the .id file and thats about it.

anyone else here supported lotus notes and give me some help?

If notes is found on a pc format the hard disk.

I hate that damn program.

Nothing really springs to mind other than the generic id password/recertification stuff and users bollocking up their location settings.

You'll get a better response if you post individual issues as you run into them. There are a couple of Notes-aware bods 'round here.

Think of yourself in the same situation. If you have a problem do you want people to be smartarses about it? I doubt it. Maybe we need a forum policy which prevents people from posting before they have realised that this forum isn't for generic bullshit or chitchat.

That's like asking for all the common issues with Windows 98 - nearly impossible to answer as there's so many. Maybe if you were having more specific problems we could help out? Hell, I support it, I know the R5 client side like the back of my hand (both for PC & Mac).

Most of the time it goes down to checking the config is set up properly to remove any past issues you've found, exit out, delete the cache.dsk file, go back in and bob's your uncle. This really is a very hard question to answer - come back when you have more specific things and you'll get better answers.

Oh, and as for your question about faqs, best research place I've found are the www.notes.net forums.

:) I know heaps about lotus notes, I created the client install for 15,000 users, and I am not joking or over estimating. Just post up any problems you get and I'll answer them.

As was said earlier there are potentially heaps of them but to be specific is a bit hard.

BTW I hate notes so I have sympathy for you. Call it Lotus Scroats. That makes me feel better.

thanks for the help guys, my notes support job has turned into active directory and novell admin with a bit of cc mail server admin, so thankfully it looks like i wont need help after all.
