a little help please.

(& its not useful just to say its 'probably something wrong with the drivers' i need to fix it too. mentioning no names coughcoughfirehartcoughcough)

You may have done this, but here goes anyway:

I used to have a similar device which did the same trick.

To fix I used to have to power down the printer/scanner/fax and then disconnect the power lead for five minutes.

Reboot the pc, then repower the printer after the pc had come back up.

My parents Dell came with a lexmark all-in-one printer. The first one failed about 6 months after we got it, no apparent reason. The second one failed a few weeks ago, and since it was no longer covered by dells warranty, we took it apart. A penny had fallen down inside it and broken some teeth off the drive gear, which was not letting it print (it had the same message as yours), so maybe your problem is mechanical?

i dont think so, didnt take it apart to look though. although i do dump a lot of stuff on top of it, so i guess its a possibility.
