My mum's computer is stuffed and she won't let me fix it. Does anyone know of a place in Melbourne that you can trust/is cheap.

I reckon the HDD's screwed. (According to my mum) it got real slow and the HDD started making 'clicking' noises. I suggested it mas the HDD, she thought it was lack of space (she's used 9G out of 18G) so I told her to defrag as she'd only done it about 4 months ago. it only got about 10% of the way through and some DLL file screwed up, it shut down and the comp won't start up again.
Should mention that's it's an XP machine and 2 years old.

Yeah it may be the HD. PM me your address
If it can be fixed without replacing the drive it's $50 (if you don't live in the middle of nowhere). For my $50 i normally pick up and return the compy. I'll also put all the windows patches on if it's not patched.
If the drive needs replacing it'll be more difficult. I'm not sure about the availability of 20 gig drives (may have to put you on a 40). Also I'd want to grab your xp serial number/CD if it needs replacing (for a fresh install).
yes.... id also like your xp serial number for fresh install, and i wont even carge you a cent! (but i dont want your comp)

Well he can always install it himself if he wants I won't stop him. But it means i'm not putting the patches etc on so the computer will be pretty vulnerable. To me it makes no diff as I'm on unlimited ADSL and behind a firewall. But his mum who is prolly on dialup will
A. Not have the bandwidth
B. Not have the time
C. Get a virus
He can buy a new XP license from me but last I checked they were still over $100 which is a waste of money if he already has one. So go STFU retard.
Not to mention the fact that if i were to copy it he wouldn't get in trouble as he's got the cd. If I want a new serial I've got a serial number generator.
