How the hell do I change my byline from "start running. now." ... it's crappy and I want to replace it with something equally crappy, but different.

you need over 200 posts now.
so in effect this means once a square always a square ( or atleast until I get my 200 posts up)
I don't know how perhaps it was magic but I just became hip, and that seems even more unlikely than square...
that's amazing. Just go on a posting run - post random unrelated shit in threads that you like the name of, or have an 'e' in the thread subject.
Like utop :D

I considered that, but I feel dirty when I post something that probably doesn't add to the conversation at all. I still do it at times, but sometimes I'll realise that what I've said adds nothing to the conversation at all so i just hit "back" and find somewhere else to spill my brain.
you have too many scruples.
while dbl_scruples > 0 scruples--;

your biline changes as your posts go up. once you hit 200 you can make it whatever you want.

There was a post, waaaay back, that explained all the new levels. I doubt I'll hit 200 posts any time soon so no biggie. The new titles aren't bad I suppose, but I woulda set the to be a bit more amusing (or tried, at least).

and i know this'll sound stupid (but cut me some slack - this is the newbie section), but what the hell is "leet" all about?
stolen from Urbandictionary.com
A derivitave of the 80's software piracy scene. Originally "elite" was used to show status on a BBS. Commonly the people who cracked the software, or had sysop access on a board would be referred to as Elite. Later it became common to just use "leet." With the internet explosion it was later used to describe hackers as well as crackers. Due to it being great to be known as leet, newbies started adopting the term and using to describe themselves, often with numerical variations. Anyone who considers themselves "leet" should be able to tell you who/what Razor1911 is, anyone failing to answer this question should be laughed at.
I answer this question a lot, most likely due to the fact that I say 'leet' a lot in real life. I used to also say ROFL (rolling on the floor laughing) and other such acronyms, but now I restrict myself to a few: 'leet', 'owned' and 'hax'.
Actually, that's not true - come to think about it, I probably say a lot of stupid stuff that I shouldn't, but I digress.
What do you mean by leet? Are you referring to someone that identifies themselves as leet, or points at something and calls it leet, or describes a situation as being leet?
In this usage, leet refers to something that has extraordinarily good/positive qualities or traits. For example, saying 'man, I just got back from a leet night out' means that you had great/wonderful/fantastic time.
There is another meaning of leet. If you were referring to the whole 'replacing letters with numbers/ANSI characters/mispellings' thing, that's "leetspeak". I could explain that also but I can't be arsed :p

leet = elite
Often also depicted as l33t or 1337, where the "e" is often substituted with a 3, which kinda looks like a mirrored "E".
A = 4
E = 3
I, L = 1
O = 0
T = 7
etc.
It's basically just your average geek subculture dialect.
Some more examples are...
fux0red = fucked
hax0red = hacked
You get the idea.
