Set 1: Story of the Year
I didn't know what to expect from this band. Though my girlfriend's roomie said their album is the best she's heard all year, so I was optimistic. This band rocked. They put out a lot of energy with their guitar swinging and flipping
off the stage, the crowd was loving it. All their songs kicked ass, but I felt I was missing out because I didn't know any of the lyrics. That all changed when they sarcastically announced "This is a brand new fu*king song!" and proceeded to play Metallica's Enter Sandman. Ahh, memories.
Set 2: Hoobastank
OH HELL YES. IMO Hoobastank stole the entire show. Their set started off with songs from their previous album: Crawling in the Dark, Remember Me, and Running Away are the ones I recalled. Then they played some new tracks from their new album, which by the way is awesome. They slowed it down to play their lead single The Reason (lighters in the air, anyone?) and after that they played more songs from their album. Overall I think this was the best set, excluding the part when they played Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" (I'm
serious) I just wish their set was a bit longer.
Set 3: POD
F*ck POD. During this time I went to get a drink of water and took a crap while blowing my nose (I like to include all my orifices when I'm using the bathroom) I got back on the floor in time to see the the last 15 minutes of their set. They have no energy and their stage presence sucks. *thumbs down*
Set 4: Linkin Park
I'm not a huge fan of LP, but I went to the concert with the intention of having fun with my girlfriend, and she's a hardcore fan. My optimism dropped as I soon realized that I was surrounded by teeny bopper girls shoving their way to the front and yelling out Chester's name. It really made the band harder to enjoy. Anyway, I thought it was very mediocre. Nothing really struck a nerve. If I had to choose my favorite part, it's when they picked out a fan from the audience to play guitar for their song Faint. That was pretty cool.
In conclusion: Don't get in the mosh pit if you haven't deodorized. That offensive to me and everyone else that doesn't stink.
