Holy shit. I'm surprised I didn't see my own guts in front of me by the time I finished reading this!

is Chuck Palahniuk the author of 'survivor'?

Survivor is a really trippy little book that starts with the last chapter and is about a tele-evangelist who nicks a plane so that he can record all that has gone wrong in his life on the black box.

if you haven't read it is well worth the read (especially good for study avoidance)

Survivor rawks. It is my favourite book by him. In fact, of the ones I've read, I rank them in this order:

Survivor, Fight Club, Invisible Monsters, Choke.

I've got Lullaby sitting on my shelf which I've heard is one of his best, and I'll also get around to reading Diary one day.

Fight Club is an awesome book, but once you've seen the movie you won't get much from reading it I reckon. So anyone new to this author I would suggest don't bother reading Fight Club, just watch the movie and read his other books. Starting with Survivor.

I take it his books are stand alones and don't build on one another then?

Yeah, Palanhiuk wrote Survivor as well. I think it's put in libraries so you don't study though, part of some government educational conspiracy.

Urgh, I just read that short story. That's pretty extreme, even for a Palanhiuk story.

Speaking of Palahniuk, does anyone know where I can get an ebook version of "Stranger than Fiction"? I have every other one of his books but I can't seem to find this one.

Seeing this thread resurrected again if anyone's interested, "Guts" is a chapter in "Haunted" by the venerable Chuck. It's a fucking awesome novel and I recommend it to all and sundry.
