My boss got on to DC++ the other day and downloaded 107 versions of "Somewhere over the rainbow".
Can anyone think of a song that has been sung (and recorded) by more artists than that???
I have 32 versions of Johnny B. Goode. But I reckon 107 versions from almost operatic thru to thrash is pretty hard to beat.

Scary... I was looking through 25Gb of mp3s not 5 minutes ago, and I asked myself pretty much the same question.... "I wonder which song has had the most covers done on it?"

Trust me not to look for a music forum! :-)
There seems to be a bit of duplication in the "Who do you love" list...George Thorogood is there twice in the first screen-load and John Hammond shows up more than once....but it's an impressive list.

Is it just me or is there a new version of The Beatles' Help coming out every year?
And is it just me or is each version more boring than the last? Nothing ever comes close to the orginal.

Bloody people stealing songs. This should be in the rant section but it is in reply...
Those fuckin pop idol fags that steal good songs and turn them into crap that would make you stab a poor little granny if you heard the whole thing. Like that pig-rooter Will Young who re did the Doors' "Light My Fire" and turned a lovely song about getting high and using drugs into a song about fags rooting up the arse (Well that's my inpterpretation of what he is trying to say), well the 12yr old girls think it's about the love of a man for a fine cuban cigar...

I'm pretty sure the answer to this question is 'Louie Louie', by Richard Berry. The number of recordings is quoted as being roughly 1600.
My favourite version is the one from California Games.

Didn't Andrew Denton do that for his show "Money or the Gun", he got different people to come in and sing the song...

The only reason why I remember is because my brother had to take a friend of ours to the hosptial and all these different versions of the song were televised on Rage.
