Anyone got any advice on how i can get msn/icq/irc running through a proxy...
ive put the proxy settings in but theres still no go, ive tried using the settings as an ip and still no go.
the proxy addy is http://**.**.**.*/proxy.prxy
ive looked in the prxy and got an ip but it doesnt match up to the one ive dns'd
i NEED msn access at the least, any programs e.t.c would be appreciated.
p.s tried http tunnel and no love

Is it possible that they are blocking those protocols?
You could always use ICQ lite...
Just my 2c worth.

if you can SSH out to the internet (TCP 22 by default) then you can tunnel any TCP connection.. one being SOCKS... setup an SSH server running SOCKS at home or something, and not only can you get out of the network, your traffic is secured.
Depending on the firewalling, you might want to play with an SSH server on another known/allowed port...

You don't even need SOCKS if the SSH server allows external port forwards.
Hazza, Working IRC proxies are far and few between and I doubt a web based gimmick would work for that. Are you sure your proxy.prxy isn't just a web proxy?

its a web proxy that is allowing msn to work...
could i probably bnc a connection on a remote computer using a port that would be open but barely in use.
anyone got any suggestions?
inside the proxy.prxy it just sends to another ip addy which i am using to use msn, but its not working for icq or irc

Try using telnet for irc.
telnet perth.oz.org 6667
user <username> <hostname> <servername> <realname>
eg : user nobody localhost localhost :I'm nobody nick nobody
then type nick <nick>
now if you get a ping :12312312 or ping :192.xxx.xxx.xxx
you need to reply with pong :12312312 or pong :192.xxx.xxx.xxx
then join #zgeek
and to talk try privmsg #zgeek :<insert text>
