Basic plans are thus. The 14th of June is the Queens Birthday long weekend in Sydney. As with last year, what better way to spend the Queens birthday long weekend than in the city of (drag) queens - Sydney!

Details (which are bound to change slightly):

Friday, 11th of June, 2004AD:
18:00 - 00:00 - Drinks at the Greenwood Hotel.
Where: Greenwood Hotel, Corner of Pacific Highway & Miller St. Map here (http://www.zgeek.com/gallery/album83/Greenwood). The hotel is the big green square, the two entrances are shown in green too.
Bring: Women (for me).

Saturday, 12th of June, 2004AD:
13:00 - 16:00 - OMGWTFBBQ @ Balls Head [giggle].
Where: Waverton. Map here (http://www.zgeek.com/gallery/album83/BallsHead). Public transport you get off at Waverton station and follow the red line (on the map, not on the road, stupid) to the big red squah. Those driving, get onto Pacific Highway and turn into Bay Rd, then fallow that to the big red squah.
Bring: BBQ food, suncream. Not that much play area. [shrugs]

17:00 - 00:00 - Boweling & booze.
Where: 116 George St, Hornsby (http://www.whereis.com.au/mapping/geocodeAddress.do?hashCode=141350622166054&address=116+George+St+Hornsby+2077+NSW&streetName=George&placeName=AMF+Bowling+Centres+Australia&locality=Hornsby&streetNumber=116&link=1087001262652&submit.x=13&submit.y=10&streetType=St&state=NSW&phoneNumber=%2802%29+9477+3914&brandId=3).
Bring: Ya mum.

Sunday, 13th of June, 2004AD:
14:00 - 19:00 - Jazz Festival.
Where: Darling Harbour. Map Map here (http://www.zgeek.com/gallery/album83/DarlingHarbour). Meet outside the iMax theatre (cyan squah). Festival is all along the shoreline.
Bring: Yourself. Picnic blanket if you want, but you'll be carryign it around the rest of the night.

19:00 - 21:00 - Dinnwah @ Blackbirds.
Where: Darling Harbour. Map here (http://www.zgeek.com/gallery/album83/DarlingHarbour). Where the blue squah is.
Bring: Money for dinner.

21:00 - 00:00 - Karaoke.
Where: Dunno. Where does karaoke?
Bring: Your drunken courage and bad voices.

Monday, 14th of June, 2004AD:
13:00 - 17:00 - OMGWTFBBQ @ Coogee Beach.
Where: Coogee beach. Map here (http://www.zgeek.com/gallery/album83/CoogeeBeach).
Stuff: This place rawks.
Bring: Suncream, things to play with, bbq food, energy.

Timings, costings, more details on locations to come. It won't change much from this, so please reply saying which events you shall be attending. Things like Boweling & OMGWTFBBQ's will need transport, so if you're attending those and have seatage to offer, please say so.

I should state here that wedding dates coinciding with global meet is only a 50% possibility depending on if you have it that weekend (17th-20th) or the one after (24th-27th). Since the latter is the start of school holidays I would imagine more people would prefer that, however I'm obviously not going to try and force people to change their plans just for me and DumHed - if we're not around, that's too bad for us (though I do very much want to be!)

Otherwise, excursion of queens mark 2 sounds like the shiznit.

Something just occurred to me.

I had to organise the doings that transpired last time I went down to Melbourne, despite it being Blueboy's birthday and myself barely having been there before, SOOOOO ....

Blueboy, as revenge and seeing as you're coming up for this event, you organise the Excursion of Queens Mk II.

At the risk of rendering myself unpopular (moreso) I propose that the bowling of balls into ten pins be considered (no sexual references please)...
Too bad you can't get two games, shoe hire, hot dog, fries and a coke for $10 anymore though. Surely there'd be some sort of group discount though?

All along darling harbour from Friday through until Monday (I think, definately saturday onwards) - most shows start around midday-ish or mid afternoon. Just walk along the darling harbour and keep your ears open, you can't miss it.

Gotta head to work (huge traffic jam), but once there if I get a chance to log on I'll post an earl to the details.

There is an AMF in Hornsby not too far from Cassa's and DumHed's... perhaps a possible location for Saturday night.

Elsewise there is a Wondabowl in Castle Hill or other AMFs in Parramatta and Blacktown I do believe.

Emergency Awoogha:

Trackwork calendar from the Cityrail site.
12-13 June 2004
Zone Description
9 Northern Line between Strathfield and Berowra AND North Shore Line between Gordon and Berowra AND Newcastle & Central Coast Line between Cowan and Newcastle AND Hunter Line between Newcastle and Dungog & between Newcastle and Scone

So, no trains to or from Chatswood, Killara and Hornsby. Hope everyone likes buses!

Also I think karaoke would be better for the Saturday night, there will be a lot more places doing it then as opposed to a Sunday.

I know...it's just that there aren't really any dedicated karaoke places that aren't mainly non-english speaking, so if we're doing the bar/pub type karaoke thing I just would have thought that more places would have that on a saturday night as opposed to a Sunday (even if monday is a p/h).

Also bowling is probably gonna restrict us to hornsby or parramatta area, which anyone that lives there can tell you it's not real happening on a saturday night. Unless I can glean some new ideas for amusement type stuff after work since I'm going to take a stroll through darling harbour to see if there's any galactic-circus type action (melbourne people will understand that)

Ok, I looked at the balls head map........ is that a *really* long walk, or does it just look like it?

If it is a really long walk.... is someone available to pick me up from waverton station? *looks pretty*

Also, I won't be attending friday or monday, cause I work those days (mmm... public holiday pays).... Which means I'll be leaving at a reasonable hour on sunday. (where reasonable = to get to central station not too long after midnight)

I've got some stupidly cheap flights to Syd this weekend - $29 each way.

Might catch up with you guys if my drunken pub crawl allows. Is the top post current?

Also - the Greenwood hotel - how close is that to the city - it shows North Syd on the map - is that like near north Sydney station, north across the bridge? We're staying in George st on a one of my corporate slums <cough>

Hm.. why am I doing this, anyway my mobile no. is 0409389653 - I'm about to go off line for the rest of the time - tomorrow @ 2pm. If anyone's kind enough to SMS me any changes the details (or what the fuck you look like) - especially the Fri night gig. I'll bring you 139 naked women.

Cheers

Greenwood's just next to North Sydney Station. Unless there's another Greenwood or it's now changed names. I haven't been that way in ages, but from memory, some directions:

When you get off the train and go up the stairs to the station, go through the shop gallery and keeping going straight till you get see a pair of small escalators on the right hand side. It's just after a right hand turn, which you shouldn't take. Should be opposite the 'Tie Rack' store if it's still there. Go up then turn left and then up a few stairs, through the door to the outside, then follow it down (in the direction away from the station) and you should be there. You should see a large number of suits going that way so you should be able to follow or ask one of them if you get a tad lost.

This direction should still be open unless you go quite late. If it's closed, go out the station street exit, get on Pacific Hwy, and should be some stairs lead up to the Greenwood. It's before Macca's and just after a walkway that goes over the street.

thingy

[Edit] And I'm not sure what I'll be able to attend, Friday obviously no (and Excal's working) but he and I might be able to make it to the Saturday BBQ, Sunday DrDivad is coming over so I can't and I am unsure about Monday. I'll try my best to be at least one event.

Well, the music at the Jazz Festival was really very good and there was a good vibe too...If only I had arrived like a little earlier and been able to find the ZGeek team, I would have stayed a bit longer...It's my own fault I'd totally forgotten to buy a friend's birthday present and had to rush into the city to hunt one down just before 14:00 (ie. when I remembered)...

BUT - if anyone who is going to the Blackbird tonight reads this - I can't make it, so if you've booked including me as a number, please unbook me!! My friend who's birthday it is has brought forward the dinnner with us to tonight because his gf has exams tuesday...

Sorry dudes - I hope you didn't book for us both. :(

No need for apologies.
We were at the Jaz Festival (7 of us) and had fun.
We're now getting smahed while watching random tv eps. The neighbours complained about our DDR antics. :(

I expect a huge fucking turnout for what will be my last official event this Excursion.

It was funny. The dude came upstairs from the ground floor to the ZUnit on the 3rd floor and said he could hear it from down there.

He asked if we had "some kind of awesome bass system". Turns out it was just a bunch of us jumping up and down on DDR and drinking rum :D

That was last night. I scored higher than Blunt in DDR even though it was my first try. Mind you I was on batpiss-simple difficulty.

No BBQ for me today, I appear to have slept wrong and buggered up my neck somehow :S

Hey all,

Thanks for the night on Firday. Fiona and I (Chris) got drunk with you... er... funny that.

To all those people we met - we can't remember your online names vs your real names. pm us to remind our "tragic minds".

Cheers,
C.
