I have 2 user logins on my laptop, a personal and a work account, on the personal account outlook 2003 works fine (btw i have upgraded from 2002) but when i go to outlook 2003 on my work account (using exchange server) it keeps restarting on me, giving the error: Microsoft Office Outlook has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience blah blah blah... etc

So i send error report and when i restart outlook it asks if i want to go in safe mode, i try that and it crashes again.

I then tried a detect and repair, and it didn't work, i have tried to reinstall and not working i renamed those *.dat files to *.old, but this still hasn't worked, what strikes me as weird is i have removed office 2002 and yet i can still open outlook and check my mail but i can't forward or send replies unless i go into webmail. So i went to try remove 2002 but in the add/remove programs there is no remove for office 2002.

The event log says:
Faulting application outlook.exe, version 11.0.5510.0, stamp 3f1380f0, faulting module outlcm.dll, version 10.0.2623.0, stamp 3a97f64e, debug? 0, fault address 0x00023017.

btw the error report sends me to:http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=826494 - this page is not helping me.

Exchange server has also been updated with all Service Packs.

tried an Office service pack on the laptop?

you might need the CD to uninstall Outlook; I think you need to do the same to remove any part of office. Make sure all signs of all Outlook versions are removed before reinstalling 2K3.

At what stage does it crash? Are you able to create & send fresh emails from the work account?

it crashes on startup, i've checked all traces of outlook were removed weird thing now is that outlook 2002 keeps wanting to install itself and after it did that the reply forward etc buttons worked, ohwell i'll just use 2003 for personal account and leave 2002 as is, maybe i need to upgrade the exchange server - but am too lazy (if it works don't touch it) :P

Yeah I'm rolling this out to users at the moment. It's a pain in the ass and frankly i'd have been happy to stick with Outlook 2k.

Buggy as hell. Even if it does look pretty.
