Nope, and I hate you!
What did you advertise it for and what did you end up getting?
I had an offer of 22K on the weekend, but it was too low to take.

Originally I advertised it for $19k, and I thought that to be a dead-set bargain. In the end it sold for $17,500 but by then I had pretty much given up on the idea of selling the thing.
The drop to $18k came about pretty early on, that last $500 was just negotiating with the buyer on the day to make him feel like he got something out of me.
I'll tell you one thing though, the used car market is fucked up right now. Both my car and yours are bloody nice pieces of hardware, yet nobody wants the things! I couldn't believe how many people thought I was asking too much, even when I'm basically selling a VT Calais for the same price as a new Hyundai Accent!
By the time it was done I think I'd have taken $5 for the thing just so I could stop letting assholes I didn't know drive my car, whine about tiny paint chips, and make stupid accusations that there were hidden problems with it. I actually told one pair of guys to fuck off and not bother me again after they tried to tell me the brand new set of tyres on it were almost worn out (they also thought there was an oil leak, a replaced front bumper, and too little power).
The buyer was also a Learner, which pissed me off some more. 17 years old, and buying a supercharged luxury car... not fucking FAIR!!!

I got my VT for $13k granted it's an exec but with the extra few grand that I could have spent on a slightly better car, i put towards making my baby a little beast. 2000 model VT purchased second hand in 2002 when I was 18 (loan not outright, have paid off though)
actually $13.8k

oi! We've gotta drive something...and well if I had the money or my parents were willing to spend the money on said luxury car I'd be getting it too. :D
But I daresay I'll either buy the Vortex of Divad next year or so (if I can coax it off him for the right price;)) or Mum said she'll help or get me a car when I'm 19. Similar deal to what Divad got.
I know it won't be as snazzy as a Calais though. :(

New fireblade? :D
Seriously why would you buy a fast car when you could buy a bike for the same price that would eat it for breakfast.
Bikes are teh best!

Bikes are teh best! A few reasons
1. A back seat to shag in
2. More seats to carry friends around
3. Don't get wet in the rain
4. Live longer :D
I do totally agree the car market is dead, I've only had one dude come out and actually drive the car. He offered me the $22k but its a grand less that I am willing to take for the car... im desperate, but I have a plan.
I also really hate those wanker that come out to see your car and thing they have masters degree in mechanics, once when I was selling my toyota cressida I had this fuck head come out and look at it, he pressed on the fender and bounced the suspension a bit and announced my ball joins where gone and made me a ridiculous offer because of that. I told him to fuck off, my brother who is a mechanic was pissing himself laughing at the dude too. (he was my mechanic) was funny.

I dont know about live longer, but I totally agree with the first option though.
oh yeah, 2 and 3 are also good
1. At 6'5" I've never been much for shagging in cars ;)
2. Bah, I can take one passenger and they usually talk about it for a while :D Plus most of my mates have cars, why would I want to ferry people around?
3. DriRider gear, I love riding in the rain it's fucking awesome. The gear keeps me totally dry and it is dry within about an hour.
4. There is that, but I haven't managed to kill myself yet!
Besides, does your car do 0 - 100 in about 4 seconds? :p

Good shit man, I'm glad you shifted it ay. $22500 is a bargain for whoever bought it, but better than 17K you were offered, I bet you can't wait to tell the dealer to shove it!

werd, Was asking $23000 as my minimum, but I thing I'd pay $500 just to be rid of it.
Now I have to get another loan to pay out the car and buy a small old bomb!.. oh and my xc or xb coupe
What'd the car cost, and how old was it?

selekta!
When you say old bomb, how much are you gunna spend? 'cps I've got two mates getting rid of newish cars at the moment, a '96 pulsar for 12K and a '03 Mirage for 11K.
Or are you going to go for something really old school, 'cos my girl has a '86 barina that needs new CV joints ($200 a side) but is otherwise a little ripper she would let go for $1500
I should stop, you probably had enough of cars for a while ay.
hmmmmm, xc coupe... goody!
I've got a '76 corolla you can have for free. It's in SA tho!

aah its just starting to sink in.. I'm gonna miss my car so much :(
I'm gonna have to pay out 6000 on the falcon so my car options are going to be very limited as I am only planning to get a 10 or 15k loan out to get a new car and pay off all my debits so they are in the one loan (basically cc and the car).. I really want to get a falcon coupe because as you guys know, a boy has to have his toys and a girly car like a economical hatchback isn't gonna cut it.
So me and buffy are going to buy a small car for her so she can learn on it and get us around when needed, I will save and search for my coupe in the mean time while attempting to get the funds together.

sounds like a ripper plan bro. small cars can be fun too, less petrol, less parking room, not quite as much cred' but who gives a fuck anyway.

You have great taste in cars, an XB/XC Coupe has been my dream car since I was about 9. If you had the money you should makethis guy an offer (http://spud1.50megs.com/XB%20Coupe-Gola.htm)

ooh man, this guy even shares the same name as me.
Yeah, the XC/XB coupe has been my dream car ever since I saw mad max. I've had two alread both an XB (it had an XA GT engine in it) and an XC.. unfortunately I was very young and stupid and planned to use the car as an every day driver... oooh big expensive mistake. But now I hardly drive so fuel and parking isn't really and issue, plus if buffy has her small car then she can drive to the shops and stuff while we keep the coupe for special occasions... man I will be have zmeets every weekend when I get this :)

Congrats on selling the car. That $500 was well spent just to get rid of the thing.
I miss mine like hell too... I'm stuck driving the GF's little Nova hatchback, which doesn't even have AC. Today was warm and I had to drive for a couple of hours to pick up a cable for my Foxtel Digital (yes, I'm crazy enough to early-adopt it).
The bike is great, but it's no substitute for a car:
You can't go shopping on a bike and bring home anything big
Not all people want to be driven around on the back of it either - my GF, while she loves the bike, wouldn't touch it in the rain
It's a pain when you wear a suit at work
No airconditioning means sweaty in summer
Expensive to maintain (despite being a cheap purchase price, bikes aren't cheap to own)
Too fast sometimes (sometimes you don't want to get tickets)
CBR600's tend to overheat in summer in heavy traffic (Melb isn't great for lane-splitting sometimes)
Not exactly safe - yeah I ride it like I stole it, but I'll get hurt eventually
They aren't as fast as some people think - yeah it gets to 100 faster than my Calais (which was 7.8 sec), but my next car will keep up with it on windy roads
Easily stolen - you can't park your bike in a quiet street all night and count on it being there the next day
That said, I didn't shed a tear selling the car (despite missing it like crazy), but just the thought of selling the bike late this year when I buy a new car makes me feel sick inside.
The other problem with the bike is that it's a totally solo affair. None of my friends ride, they're all convinced I'm begging for a fatal accident. This means I only get to ride alone on weekends, which gets boring after a few years.
Finally, my advice to Pirate is get an el-cheapo car for as long as you can handle it. I'm committed to using this crappy Nova until spring, and as a result I'm saving thousands of dollars. You should think about doing the same.

Baiting Dumhed hey..... have fun!
Go to the bank, they have the lowest interest rates and best terms, seriously, just walk into the place that you bank and sit down with the financial planner and get it sorted.

Exactly ;)
My mates get annoyed with me coz when I'm in their cars I'm always saying "If I was on my bike right now..."
I'm impatient and I love the speed and fun I have on my bike. Cars are great, but as most of the points people come up with show, cars a functional. Bikes are FUN and FAST.

I'm of the school of pirate, An XB coupe would be the shit (I'm more partial to the 4 round headlights, as opposed to the 2 square), but the main problem is finding one that's
a) for sale
b) not fucked
c) has a 302 at minimum.
good luck finding the XY GTHO.... there are not many left, and to buy one you are looking at about 100 grand for a genuine one in good nick. esp. if it's original.
Body rigidity wasn't that flash in them, admitted, but it was about as good as you could get in 1969 - 70.
one that was scarier was the Shelby mustang GT500, with the 7 litre Ford Galaxy motor (that, when in the GT 40 won the Le Mans race a few times), the chassis flexed like a body building contest.

A word of advice- 1st and 2nd gear wheelspins are OK in an XB/C. Third gear wheelspins rip the splines right off the gearbox input shaft, and break the thing in two  Hey, I been around, but still don't like fords though.

Ok heres the update. Yup, my Falcon has been sold and it makes me cry because I have gone from my sexy beast to driving a little daywoo peice of shit. Right now I am looking at getting an old laser for our everyday driver and so Buffy can learn how to drive.
I am keeping an eye out for a good XB or XC coupe.. I might go an XA but I'd rather the xb or xc. So if anyone see's one let me know and then my project can get on the way.
