The great Porsche 956/962. I found a great website with a huge history of this beautiful car. Can be found here (http://962.com/registry/956_962/index.htm?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=962&Category_Code=apparel)

It doesn't have an SR20 in it though :) Or, for the Godzilla fans, a RB26 either.

I think someone is forgeting the always-awesome, 1970-Le-Mans-winning, driven-by-Steve-McQueen-in-the-Le-Mans-film Porsche 917K.
During the Le Mans race in 2000, a Jury composed of specialized journalists, declared the Porsche 917 as the "Car of the Century at Le Mans". It had a top speed of 350kph for the standard or 394kph for the longtail. Must have been cool to stand next to Mulsanne straight and watch that beast come through.

On a side note, I went to the 24 hours in 2001 and lived in my car for four days. Highly recommended if you don't mind washing without showers. It was shame to see how the golden age of Porsche at Le Mans has changed, because the entire Grand Tourisme class was made up of Porsches but for one other car (I think it was a TVR), which managed to qualify first and then dropped out after 20 laps or something. Meanwhile, they didn't have a single car in the Prototype "LM" P1 or even P2 class, basically because they were injecting all their money into the Cayenne.

This is one of my photos off of Dunlop Bridge down towards the Porsche Curves or Porsche Chicane or whatever it is now:

Maestro, i am so fucking jealous It's the one thing i want to do in my life. I lived for three years in europe butwhen Le Mans was on i was unable to go. I will make it though.

I got "Le Mans" DVD for my birthday two weeks ago. That's what inspired me to do this thread. As beautiful as the 917K is I personally preferred the cars in the 80s. The Ford GT40 was a nice car too.

I have to go for the 1968-1971 Howmet TX MK1, It wasn't greatly successful(although it won some American races outright), & only offered 350bhp but it was technically fascinating being a gas turbine powered racer.

There was also a car that raced at Indianapolis in the late 60s or early 70s which was a turbine driven vehicle. The driver sat next to the turbine IIRC
