I have a bit of a dilema, i have been appointed the task of making a CDROM presentation, and just wanted to know what would be the best software to use. I know a bit of director and flash but i am after something that can whip it up for me fast, also if u have any templates or know of a site i could use that would be awesome and greatly appreciated. Normally i wouldn't ask and do it from scratch myself but have a bit of a deadline to meet (too much posting on zgeek)

I use Flash - it's quick and pretty flexible for my needs, although there's a fair interactive side to what I'm doing. As far as something more simple? Knock up a power point presentation and have it launch on CD insert - they won't come much more simple than that.

Flash is your best bet, but if you have to whip up something fast and is not to complex try Authorware.

The last time I made a CD presentation it was done in HTML. Its quick and simple. Just using Frontpage express (cos im lazy and don't write my own code) and a couple buttons that i wipped up in fireworks.

ohwell looks like will be using flash again, anyone have any templates they want to give me to save time as i am a very lazy man.

I will give this authorware thing a go, but i bet i end up just using flash again.

I'd go with director, just because the latest version has everything you will probably need already set in behaviours and you can import flash animations really easily to save time.

i find it faster to work in than flash especially for cd's as you can stip down the projector and make it auto run faster.

It's not as "free" and funky as flash, but Authorware might be close second.

I'd be able to help you with templates for either if I was at work... good luck! :)
