The loose hanging completely exposed lines to the oil coolers on many of those cars concern me, they are very vulnerable, shit, they should atleast consider cable ties to keep those hoses tucked in nicely.

Not to be critical, but it looks like your back tire is falling off or is this the look of the rim?

Another question, why do people get so into modifying their cars to look like fast and the furious? I drive a Civic and the only thing I've though about buying is black rims because its a black car. Sometimes other people's cars look cool but most of the time I think people are just stupid, its kind of like a style for you car, just like Fubu Gear is a style of clothes. I'm not being judgemental, I'm just trying to hear what you guys have to say because all I see is alot of copycats and people trying to look cool and that to me is not being yourself. I bet most of these people's engines aren't even modified, they just have a noisy tailpipe, extended their bodies lower to the ground and glued on a spoiler that makes Formula One cars' spoilers look like they don't serve a purpose (for those of you who don't know why they're there, you should be revoked of your license and slapped until learn actually how to drive stick). This post is entirely way too long, sorry.

Firstly, that's not my car
Secondly, although I own the same kind of car, I was joking about doing it to mine.
Thirdly, the Rim isn't falling off, it just has ridiculously flared guards to accommodate the ridiculously wide tyres. I think it looks stupid, but that was kind of the point of this thread, to get people's opinions on these over-the-top mods done on these cars in Japan

I like the wide tires, but these don't even have treads on them. So stupid and useless.

Edit: Do you know if the Japanese put on the wider tailpipes to make them sound like whiny fart machines, like they do in America? So fucking annoying.

You do realise that wider tired dont give you more grip on a hard surface seeming friction is force per area

Althought wide tires do give you more grip on soft surfaces like sand.

And its a scientificly proven fact the wider tailpipe is used to project to the entire world how much of a wanker they are.

I don't agree with the wide tire stuff. Why would every professional race car have wide tires? Everything from F1 to dragsters all have wide tires (well, not the front of dragsters). Is this because of oil on the road or are the race tracks made up of a special mix of concrete so wide tires are not affected by friction? I have never heard of the tracks being anything special.

As for the wider tailpipe, I agree 110%. They should make them sound like Harleys or old Mustangs and Novas. But I guess that's more engine noise. Oh well.

Exactly, so the more area you have, the more friction... Without friction there'd be no grip, so the more tyre on the road the more grip.

There is very little friction on a surface such as ice for example, this is due to it being really smooth. We know what happens on ice...

Motorbikes have wider tyres (rear more so than front) as the cc's increase, this is due to the increase torque / horsepower requiring a higher level of grip.

Absolutely, the wider the tyre the more grip. Increasing the width of a tyre will have negative effects on performance after a certain point, so it's all about trade offs. As with anything performance related.

Force per area is right. BUT most cars arn't tyred for a dry "track". They're tyred for a wet track. Put huge tyres on a car and you'll soon find out the defination of aquaplaning.

And its a scientifically proven fact the wider tailpipe is used to project to the entire world how much of a wanker they are.

Well not literally dropping and not literally flying.

Well 2 different things on the exhaust. I put on some headers and a new catalytic converter.

And a turbo charger compresses air so more can fit into the cylinders. Which means more fuel can fit in and there can be a bigger explosion. It uses the cars exhaust as a power supply instead of a belt on the motor like super chargers. they are also a lot less expensive.

done some research it seems, I'm not convinced, how specifically did you change the compression ratio of your motor to accomdate the addition of a turbo charger, what boost are you running? and this time I want a response in 10 mins not 24 hours.

EDIT : I want pics you liar.

Err. I would like to point out that physics concepts show that the area makes no diffrence whatsoever because friction is force per unit so making them wider just spreads the force out over a larger area but the total friction is the same. They have wider tires because thinner ones melt. Because the friction is the same but over a smaller area. So the smaller area has a higher rate of heat transfer generated as the tires slip. But making them wider does not increase there coefficent of static Or kinetic friction. However it does distribute the heat out over a larger surface area.

The reason dragsters have mega wide tires is because as they spin they start melting almost straight away and making them wider means they melt less and so the more they melt the smaller the value of kinetic friction so the friction is reduced. But normal unmelted tires are exactly the same friction between the road as super fat ones. As long as the same amount of weight is pushing down on them.

V8's with turbos aren't that common, but there are quite a few floating around, especially on the smaller ones wich the thunderbird is, (a 289 if my memory serves)

Aston Martin did a factory turbo V8, so did Ferarri. they put it in this:

I know that there are turbo V8s, That's why I want the information about his exhaust system to see if he is telling the truth.

There are particulars about turbo charging a V engine or a Boxer(horizontally opposed) engine & I'm trying to see if he has those particulars straight.

Edit: The first ever turbocharged production car was a Buick 215cid(3.5litre) V8, the second ever being the Chev Corvair with a horizontally opposed 6.

DOnt get me wrong, I'm not defending nodbugger, not by any means, I just know of too many people that believe that the only cars that can be turbocharged are 4's and 6's.

Seeing as nodbugger hasn't cleared this whole thing up yet, i don't think he will. Being an Australian, and working in kilometres (170mph = 272kmph), that is fucking fast. I don't know anyone who has taken a car that fast, and i would think twice about taking one that fast myself.

However, there are quite a few turbo charged V8s around(just like nodbugger's) , but blowers (superchargers) are more often used in V8s simply because of the rev range... getting a heavy V8 to 272 clicks with a turbo? I don't know about that.
