View Full Version : Wanted: Amiga 500
Anyone happen to have an old Amiga system they'd be willing to part with? Ideally, I'd like an A500 with RAM expansion, a monitor, a couple of joysticks, and a shitload of games (and no, I don't mind if most of them are pirated - I spent my teenage years playing games on ancient floppies with five or six different titles written and scribbled out on the label). The monitor is an option, but it would be nice - TVs made the graphics so damned fuzzy!
I am in Melbourne, Australia. PM or email any offers. Thanks!

I wouldn't expect much from the old floppies. I got an A600 a while back and only about 10% of the disks I tried did work. Transfering downloaded images to Amiga floppies is tedious to say the least.

Looks you're after a complete nostalgic experience... Yes?
*sigh* "Amiga Forever" – wasn't that the motto? The good ‘ol days… *sigh*
Anyway I digress. If the answer is "No", then you could try any of the Amiga emulators. They seem to work fine with the few games that I tried. Unfortunately I can’t think of any linkage at the moment. Google it.
Can't help you out with the hardware... the only things I have left are an external flooppy drive, monitor and some disks.

Heh, we used to have an A500. I always wanted a 1200 but never had the money. Anyways, check out http://www.winuae.net/ for the emulator, http://amiga.supergamez.hu/ for most games. Unfortunately you need an image of the kickstart rom and Amiga went nuts when they were posted on the net, so they're pretty hard to find *cough* http://pangcorner.omegadelta.net/amiga/kick13.zip *cough* ;)
WinUAE works really well these days, runs almost any game. It's still not the same as the real thing tho, but it's fun for a bit.

I have an Amiga 500 with internal 512KB/clock expansion, second floppy drive, external 3MB/SCSI expansion, external 20MB hard drive, 1084S monitor, mouse, joystick and the requisite shedload of games (some legit, some not).
Never been able to bring myself to part with it (heck, I almost cried when my VIC20 went a couple of years back), but I would be happy to see it go to a good home.
Only drawback is you might have to wait a while before I could get it to you. I'm in NSW but I do get down to Melbourne a few times a year (other half's family live there). If you don't get any other offers and are interested, just let me know.

I can guarantee your baby a good home. Whereabouts in NSW are you? I'm up in Wagga and Canberra a couple of times a year.

Wagga is the magic word. Next time you're in Wagga or I'm in Melbourne we'll get something organised then.
