Alternative for FTP

I am a student and have university webspace, i can happily upload small files, but as the file size incresses, the reliability of the connection decreases and it may take a few attemps to upload a 3Mb file.

Can anyone suggest a better way to upload files than explorer and a FTP window?

Alternatively, you could look at a better FTP client, one that manages the upload process and can resume if the connection is flaky?

FTP Voyager

they are both pretty good.
