In response to a post in another thread, I thought it would be interesting to see what injuries people have picked up in footy and other sports. I am not discriminating against any sport (even though rugby is VASTLY superior...:D) or against genders.

My list

Broken collarbone - Aussie rules
Torn AC ligament in left knee - Rugby
9 stitches to calf after being stomped - rugby
Torn ankle ligaments in both ankles - rugby and baseball
3 stitches in right eyebrow - basketball
2 broken noses - touch football and rugby
Dislocated shoulder - rugby league
Cracked ribs - rugby
Testicles "inconvenienced" - rugby, mixed netball

Cheers
Icky

All the obvious martial arts injuries come to mind...

Broken toe (3)
Disclocated thumb (1)
Broken jaw (1)
Black eye (too many to track)
Bruised testicles (trying not to remember)
Cracked rib (1)

But the worst one was the one that took me out of the sport completely in the end - a dislocated hip. Of all the injuries I've had, that was by far the worst. Two years on, and I still can't train. :(

How can you bruise?.. aww shit mate, sorry about that.

I don't have much but still being GK in soccer isn't the safest positon ;)

- broken foot table
- broken hip (painful)
- shot to groin (too many times)
- broken tooth (basketball)
- minor concussion (again, too often)
- several muscle and bone injuries when people kick your feet (I always throw against the player, fuck the ball ;)

Grrrr......nice manly thread! Well I'm only 20 but been very lucky so far.....

-Mountain biking - only 1 tooth knocked out

-Rugby Union (13 years) - 2 broken ribs, torn rotator cuff

-American Football (2 years) - 1 broken rib, extremely brused neck vertabrae and a few concussions.

Most painfull was probably shin splints and muscle imbalance due to training too much when i was at school. I think you both beat me btw :(

although i've had countless number of crashes on my bike, i've never seemed to have broken something, so these may seem tame compared to ^^

impaled myself into a tree - 10 stiches across my forehead between my eyes
crashed into a car at 60km/h - dislocated left wrist, a dozen stiches in my right arm, a dozen stiches across my knee, displaced knee cap (i could see the bone)

Was this due to having to do the tuck ;)

I haven't too many, mostly sprained ankles, dislocated thumb, black eyes.

BUt i haven't played much sport since i turned 18except for golf, but it doesn't really give you too many strains, although i did get hit in the leg by a stray golf ball. The guy didn't even call fore so i threw his ball in a nearby creek.

I can lucklily say I have somehow never seriously injured myself playing sport. Nothing better than the odd cut or bruise that is. But have a look in this thread for some pics of someone who has; http://forums.zgeek.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=19754

That thread may well be what inspired Icky_Thoomp to start this thread.

That effort took 10 stitches to fix up, plus the guy has lost most of the hearing out of one ear, which doctors say may or may not return.

Just remember, sport is good for you.

Swimming - four stiches in the scalp + concussion.

Aussie Rules - Broken ankle.

Mountain Biking - broken elbow, shattered collarbone + concussion.

Volleyball - three broken ankles (no, not at the same time), a couple of sprained ankles, torn bicep.

Having a pretty good injury-free run at the moment.....of course saying that has probably just jinxed it!

Spurr - 4 stitches and concussion from swimming? Were you swimming in a pool with people throwing bricks at you? That's rough....

My list doesn't seem so bad anymore, especially after reading Hazza's list.

My favourite injury so far hs been Pinchy's effort in impaling himself into a tree, closely followed by Spurr's swimming injuries.

Quick story - playing rugby against Kiama one afternoon and the knob jockey flanker I was up against tried to ruck me off the ball. He missed and instead opened up a 10cm gash on his captain's head. Captain then left the field. I don't think Knob Jockey played much more that year.... :)

Scar on Elbow - Kickball (3rd or 4th grade)

Scar on Knee - Work (Knife Slipped)

Broken Clavicle (Collarbone) - Skateboarding

4 Stitches in Lip - Soccer

?? Sprained Ankles - Soccer

1 Minor Concussion - Sledding (Head hit the ice and all I saw was pink)

A few work injuries including one where 2 lightbulbs broke and the shards fell on top of me and some stuck in me, one in my ear. That sucked.

Having played sports since I was 5 or 6 years old, I think I remained pretty healthy. Out of my whole career I only missed 3 games with a sprained ankle my senior year of high school.

You guys and your testies injuries should be trying to invent some kind of padding for your boys. I know the sport has little padding (I think sometimes I see helmets), but come one, don't you want to keep your little swimming life forces alive in a nice home?

I haven't done much to myself. Although, I am proud that I managed to fracture my thumb when playing soccer. I wasn't goalkeeping either - I was playing forward at the time.

Either I have strong bones, or im just not going hard enough compared to you guys.
Played rugby league and union since i was 5, with the worst injury being concussion.
No idea how many though.
Streched a nerve in my arm bodysurfing.
I didnt dislocate my shoulder, but seperated the bones at the joint going off a jump on my pushy.
Strained my groin whilst drunken wrestling (does that count as a sport?)
And of course this

Fucking death wobbles are called that for a reason.

I'm not the hard-core sporty guy some of you are, but I've done some things:

Broken rib: Dirt bike
Broken arm: hiking (fell a small distance)
Fencing injuries - dislocated thumb, pulled muscles(usually hamstrings), bruses, and...burst skin! If someone's good enough at 'flicking' the blade, the tip bursts your skin when it hits! Yay!

Broken Scafoid - Bikes
Broken hand (while in plaster with the scafoid!) - Cricket
Broken right elbow just below radial headl - bikes
Broken left elbow (actual radial head) - Soccer (bloody hacks)
Broken left knee - Jumping over lounge........ does that count??
Dislocated left shoulder - Vollyball

Ummmmmmm I think thats it...... with the amount of concussions I can remember good somethimes............

Funniest injuries I have witnessed -

Rugby - my team just scored a try and the kicker went to kick the conversion. His boot grabbed the ground just before hitting the ball and he ended up dislocating his kneecap. The "CRACK!" from his knee was a bit off-putting....

Baseball - playing first base and this dude from the other team comes into bat. He gets a pitch high inside. He pushes the bat at it and the ball deflects off the bat and plasters his nose all over his face. I fucking killed myself laughing. Seriously.
