My all-time favourite sportsperson is Muhammad Ali - not only a great boxer but funny as all hell and he had a way with the ladies... :) More importantly, he stood up for himself and would not be put down by the government or the media.

My favourite quote from the Champ - "Ain't no Viet Cong ever call me nigger". Tell it like it is Champ!

Fave Aussie - John Eales. True gentleman of rugby, never threw a punch or used illegal tactics. Rates as the most complete footballer in ANY code that Australia has ever produced. Witness the winning of countless matches with his goal-kicking, THAT tackle in the 1991 World Cup final.... I could go on for hours.

Fave female athlete - Susie Maroney. Swimming from Cuba to Florida is one big motherfucking achievement.

Mines gotta be Mark Webber. Coming in to the sport of F1, I really wanted to dislike him. Despite having such a difficult time breaking in, the Australian press were hyping him up big time.

But ever since his debut where he held off Salo for 5th place he has done nothing but impress me. Good driver (how good is yet to be seen), great speaker, does a lot of charity work, and an all around nice guy. As I said, I really wanted to hate him, but he is the man!

All time sporting hero is Peter Brock.
A true racing hero. One who actually had a personality and charisma. *cough*Skaife*cough*. Pity he didn't get that last win.
Just ignore the new age, car betterment crap.

Mick Doohan...An absolute fucking ledgend rider and a really nice guy as well. I met him at a GP at eastern creek and he was in shorts and he has one severly mangled leg. To be able to ride a 500 as well as he did is just amazing and win as many world championships is a credit to his endurance, skill and determination.

Barry Sheen, Not only was he one of the most talented riders in GP history he was one of the best mentors, friends, coaches and advocates of any sport there has ever been.

Motorcycle racing was a very very dangerous sport until Barry got prometers to respect the riders and change the track design to make them safer for all riders, when he retired from racing he also kept on teaching all the younger riders how to ride, and ride faster and safer. He also taught Mic Doohan and Valentino Rossi to be World Champions.

....John Bertrand.....Don't know who he is...He was the skipper of Australia II. He formed a championship team tha beat a team of champions to take an old mug from the Americans in the America's cup.

Leyton Hewitt,a gutsy little bloke who tries as hard as he can at every chance he can and is proud to stand up and say I'M an aussie and fuck you if you don't like the way I paly and act on court.

Pat Rafter cause he is an all round good guy who has used his fame for good uses

RE: Katana's post....

I have no problem in admitting to a few tears when I heard that Barry Sheene had passed away. Just typing now is making me sad to think about it. He had a great quote when he found out that he had cancer -
"I have no respect for this disease and I will not let it beat me."

To the end he was unwilling to bend and fought as hard as he could. Vale, Barry, you are truly a legend and a great bloke.

All Time Fav - Bradman, how many sportsmen have had the secretary-general of the UN say something when they died?

Fav Aussies - Darren Lockyer, unlike some other big name players he plays his best when the going gets tough. He'd be right up there as one of the best to ever play the game when he retires.

Fav Female - I've met Sam Reilly a few times at the gym I used to go to so I suppose her.

Only stopped from becoming the greatest living legend ever because he is black.

I'm not sure what you mean mate, he was a bloody good RL player but he was unlucky enough to have a bloke called Freddy Fittler in front of him at both state and national level.

He was stopped from being a great boxer because of his motor mouth when he talked about the 11Sept bombings and also because of a gutless German boxer.

I think that if anything his skin colour and championing of the 'aboriginal's in sport' cause probably added to his popularity and celebrity status.

I think that this pic probably does him more justice rather than one where he's knocked out.:p

Hang on.. Choc is a good boxer, but what stops him from being a great boxer is his unwillingness to be hit. A great boxer will dance to avoid being hit and land a good number of scoring punches as well. Choc just dances out of range, not getting hit, but not landing hits either.

Another thing that stops him from being a great boxer is his selection of opponents: beating about-to-retire old men does not make one great. Losing to them is even less so.

Yeah okay, he still has a bit to learn and takin on retiree's does nothing for his rep. However as soon as he fights Green his career will be over, I think he's just trying to put it off until he has nothing to lose.
